There are brands out there that the innovation list would be :
1) innovative design that looks alike the phone from brand A
2) innovative design that looks alike the iphone
3) UI that looks alike iOS, even the icons
4) SAR above 1,2 (head)

Sony should learn from past...
Sony Ericsson was a successful joint venture.
It will be better if sony again join with other established brand to revive the company.
At least they should copy the design language of past sony Ericsson phones..( like Arc Arc S )
Present sony mobile are not eye catching...

The only things I pay attention from Sony are their movies and video games. Other than that, most of their products don't interest me. I'm probably a bigger PlayStation fanboy than I am for Sony themselves.

There are sensors that are only sold to a specific client, could be Samsung, Apple and Huawei ... Sensors of Galaxy S since S6 are only for Samsung.
Sony Semicon has autonomy to make these kind of deals. You come to them and ask for what you need, as long as they can provide. Some stuff is always kept for Sony Imaging.
There are sensors that are available to whoever wants like:
Imx258: mi5s+, nokia 8, essential, lg g6
Imx298: v20, mate 8, op3T
Imx351: htc u play, v30 , lg g7
Imx362: pixel 2, u11, moto g5+, zenfone 4
Imx363: mix3, zenfone 5, axon 9, v40 , pixel 3
Imx586: mi9, op7 pro, honor v20
Sensors like imx300 ( Z5, XZ, XA2) , imx400 (XZ1, XZ3) and imx445 (1) are just for Sony Mobile. No other can have it.
Sony will never again for flagships will use non-stacked sensor. Without the DRAM , there is no Burst AF, 10fps AF/AE, predective capture, 4K HLG.
Also Sony Mobile would not accept a generic sensor that even cheap Redmi has.
I dont deny that 10/+ had the imx586. The move from 1/2.3" to 1/3.06" (10) and 1/2.8" (10+) was awful.
By the way 10/10+ were going to be XA3/XA3U .... The new midrange is the true of new generation of Xperia.
I would not be surprised if they come if RGBW for Xperia. Since they dropped monochrome this year. Of course a 1/2.6" cant do same job ... It cant even do iso12800 anymore, just 3200/photo and 1600/video ....

I hope Xperia 2 would use their IMX650 with RGB filter instead of that oddly colored RYYB filter. And this time with OIS because anything physical is better than done digitally (EIS).

I loved the Sony I had. The sounds were fantastic, but they had only proprietary accessories at that time. Which made me loose interest.

Sony smartphones are pretty good but their battery life really sucks after the 2nd or 3rd update.

First Android smartphone with full water resistance was Motorola Defy. Sony just copied. Back then, there are as no IP ratings.

Not the 4K display crap again. No other brand uses 4K on a phone as the human isn't capable of this resolution. Other brands are smart enough to understand this. Sure, 4K is great on a large screen TV

Love how they brag about it but could not even bother to advertise like apple or Samsung. They have plenty of money, Sony Mobile was absorbed into more profitable departments.
