I hope HongMeng OS (HMOS) is just as customizable as Android or to an extent, just as feature rich as the last Symbian OS version.

LMFAO...well done to Trump. IF and it’s a HUGE IF Huawei pulls this off, others will surely follow. Android app compatibility is the start...once they are established app developers will follow. They can then fully detach from Android and have their own exclusives.
This is the start to the end of Android and Googles dominance.

NotAnOpinion, 11 Jun 2019Huawei is not known for by a powerful, fluid OS.
Lenevo ... moreFyi Apps follow the phone market,
Android was a fledgling, Windows Phone was a lot bigger, this happened when Samsun, LG Etc. were releasing smartphones after feature phones could go nowhere
They had an Android version, and following Samsung released a Windows Phone version.
For whatever reason Microsoft took forever and a day to make the serious Operating System jump from Windows Phone 7 to Windows Phone 8.
Google did not there was no incentive to duplicate a Windows Phone just leaving Nokia and Lumia
There were third-party apps on both Operating Systems
Huawei decision may be a safe guard for Huawei to avoid this action.
Just to remind you that the SD Association (memory expansion) and Qualcomm also have to follow this "illegal ban" , the Executive Order is far more reach
I Should make the last point now so wait
If this Operating System takes traction and other follow this will remove customers from Google, atm we don't know how Secure the OS is but it has to be better than monthly updates
Third party app developers will follow the phone market, this is NOT solely create an Operating System, but having phones that use it
Blackberry 10 OS /QNX is essentially Android plus (Near identical with super security)
There is no evidence for what Trump is doing and here is the rub
China won't, sign any trade deal that essentially sacrifices Huawei (phones that can be updated to Android Q won't if the ban goes ahead)
Trump after saying Huawei is a security threat, now wants China to sign a trade agreement detrimental to China and essentially closes down Huawei phone business.
Just yesterday 06/10/2019 Trump & President Xi are due to attend the G20 meeting at the end of June. Trump has stated that if President Xi refuses to meet him, Trump will impose another $300 Billion.
Google simply is mirroring IOS feature, Apple has a different marketing philosophy
There once were 4 Operating System down to two, with a possibility of three.
Blackberry 10 OS if Blackberry had ever allowed Samsung and the like to use it would be a far superior and "Android Similar". Gone are the Security Patches. A viable alternative but closed down by Blackberry
Except fir IOS I have used 3 Operating Systems Blackberry being the best all round, those you list may be better so I do take that on board.
Huawei time line may now be accelerated just to avoid a repeat if Huawei used an established OS if American which puts it in a similar position in the future

Ha ha ha! Nice Huawei! They play their cards very well. They are forcing the US to reconsider about the ban. The new OS it will be only for chinese market for start but if the US don't back up I'm sure that they will use it for their global products.
Google is scared the hell out right now. The second manufactirer of smartphones in the world will bring it's ouwn OS. Ha ha ha !!!

Huawei got bigger problems. Even if Hongmeng turns out to be a good replacement for Android, they still can't make cellphones without ARM and many other stuff that goes into their phone. It's impossible to create every single chip themselves.
