to those who want to see what sailfish is like, look for the apk of the jolla launcher. it was made available to the play store several years ago but has since been pulled out. i also took part in their beta tests for the launcher before it was released on the play store. it actually was really good and i thought then that was the future of touch interface- gestures (yes, it existed way before ios implemented it so don't say android copied it from ios).

another alternative huawei could look into is the nokia z launcher; they could perhaps convert it to a full-blown os. it was a project by the same people who worked on meego and sailfish, but it was a stark contrast to the original meego interface where jolla/sailfish was based on. it was more reliant on machine learning to automatically present a home screen filled with features and apps you frequently use. perhaps the os could also in time automate processes you frequently do. this could be a move forward from the current gesture navigation. this is a ui i could see myself using for a long time- automated with ai but still require your input/intervention.

other alternatives including the mobile ubuntu are clunky and seem rathe backward.

    Stondec100, 14 Jun 2019This means Arc OS is utter garbage, otherwise, why on earth... morewhy would you not want to use it? if it works better it is open source and they can fork it. a smart company reviews all options and tests to provide the best solution.

        If Google once tried to stop Windows Phone from growing by not providing their Apps in Windows Store, now, SHOW THEM that we can live without them. If Sailfish someday turns out to be big, dont let Google publish their apps. Let them sink.

          AnonD-834088, 14 Jun 2019Correct me if I'm wrong,but was sailfish on Nokia's mind i... moreWe don't need to go back in time.

          PRE-Sailfish named Meego was in Nokia's hands, not mind. If it was in its mind they would have not gone in favour of Windows. Huawei is doing what Nokia should've done long back. When Nokia discontinued Symbian it should have chosen Meego instead of Windows and compete with Android & iOS. Meego, later Sailfish, now Aurora is a worthy competitor.

                      Aminul Islam, 14 Jun 2019Can you please explain, why do you think miui is a garbage?Why do you think something is a garbage???

                      Because there's a lot of TRASH in it. MIUI updates are useless, you rarely see any differences. Whether a budget model or a flagship one, MIUI is same for all, no differences either. Lots of permissions it asks, try using Shareit in MIUI. You cannot even sort the icons alphabetically in a stock app drawer, I'm not mentioning Poco launcher.

                      Xiaomi claim their ringtones to be popular via TV advertisements. That claim goes to Apple. Even here the Chinese are trying to copy.

                          What do you think Huawei should do ??? Use iOS ???

                            KMB877, 14 Jun 2019MeeGo was abandonated in fall od 2011. So, isn't polished, ... moreHe's referring to Sailfish which released its latest update named HOSSA just 15 days back.

                            The Evolution :
                            Linux ---> (Moblin & Maemo) ---> Meego ---> Mer ---> Sailfish ---> Aurora

                              The world does not need another digital ecosystem. That is why Windows Phone died. Even Microsoft could not see any future of it.

                                KMB877, 14 Jun 2019I think after MeeGo, you should put somehow an other arrow ... moreTizen would not come in that hierarchy. If I had to put Tizen that would create another branch of arrows.

                                Nokia & Intel both developed Meego, when Nokia terminated Meego in favor of Windows, divisions took place. Nokia team of developers by the name Jolla started Meego fork named Mer and transformed it into Sailfish. Whereas the Intel team developers joined hands with Samsung and created Tizen which is also a fork of Meego. Now Tizen 2 is a merger of Meego & Bada OS.

                                  I'm probably looking forward for Mate 30 Pro with Sailfish OS drastically updated to get in with the times. The last time I knew about Sailfish is Sony having the paid initiative to change Android OS to Sailfish OS, which was last year.

                                      This is kind of assuming they actually had anything more than a lite demo version of an os to begin with.
