Only American apps such as Facebook will not be pre-installed on HongMeng OS, but it can be installed via any store or .APK file.

1. Install from Jolla Store, an app named ANDROID SUPPORT.
2. Now install any Android .APK file.
It's that simple.

Fadter modern hardware reduce Java disadvantages and Java provides faster development time than c++.

Even if Huawei is unbanned 6 months down the line, they'll be far behind in technological terms and Samsung won't be sleeping this time around.
Further. People have lost confidence in any Chinese phone as long as the conditions leading to the trade war exists.
Would you buy their devices if you worry of a future risk? No.
People forget that when Android came to the fore Meego was around but was surpassed.
Who do you expect can make Meego work better between Nokia & Huawei? Yet Nokia still failed.
Another factor is when good Nokia phones went Windows, everyone ditched them because of of the OS, the OS is king & Apps are its queen.
Lastly, people say Sail OS is faster than Android.
The problem is that gets less important of fast mid to high-end devices. Further, when device optimizations & security come into play, Sail OS may loose that theoretical speed.

The adds, etc, will be only in China were they have freehand. It's like Xiaomi with their Global ROMS. They are not as stupid to put that crap adds where they'll not be accepted and drop its sales. Same with whatever new OS they'll use around the world. It'll be open source too. So custom ROMs will be available and free of social crap too or only what whatever someone want in it.
The big question if they'll remain phones locked with the new operating system. Once they are free from Android and out of US. They should not have problems to allow unlock them anymore, but we will see.

Google had to reinvent Java to bypass or able.
A case went to court over Android use of Java and Google won against Oracle.
So where is this c++ you are referring to?
Yes there is C code since Linux kernel is written on c.
It's possible there are c++ optimizations here and there but android is not written on c++!

Anonymous, 14 Jun 2019Large parts of Android are written in Java and its APIs are... morejava is the one has problem with. java optimization is not as good as c#, c++, c, go. i experience creating even just a simple java program not a android app it is very heavy when you compiles it and through cmd is the output. i still use java for my android dev apps. c#, c++, c, go they are very lite for mobile dev.

If the ban continues, there'll be only 2 OS's. Ark / HongMeng for smartphones & tablets. Aurora which is based on Sailfish for other Smart devices such as watches and other electronic devices. Once Huawei developers improve Aurora according to Huawei standards, then later it'll be used on smartphones.
Please note Sailfish is not much different from Aurora.
