I'm glad to know that they are taking in consideration the Sailfish OS. This could evolve in a great alternative to Android. After all the gestures of IOS and Android where used by the Meego before it became Sailfish.
In time maybe they will satisfy the apps freaks that can not take a dump without an app on their smartphone.
For the lite users like me it will be very OK.
Alternative is good. And it can evolve into something nice. Anyway, Android is becoming more and more closed like the IOS. Maybe a competitor in the OS business is not that a bad thing.
Maybe windows will havr the chance to came back too. Who knows? But with their win 10 they also tend to go to that restricted environment like Apple has. Too bad.

mdtrpa, 14 Jun 2019Huawei might use Sailfish OS as a safer option if things go... moreLarge parts of Android are written in Java and its APIs are designed to be called primarily from Java. It is possible to develop C and C++ app using the Android Native Development Kit (NDK), however it isn't something that Google promotes. According to Google, “the NDK will not benefit most apps.

You were to buy a Mate 20. Go ahead. Mate 20 is untouched in these controversies. The only issue being the updates, if the ban contibues it'll not get Android Q. There are chances that the ban might be off as other US tech companies are also demanding the ban to be laid off, coz they are worried about losing businesses and the profits, as Huawei is a 2nd largest Phone manufacturer in the world. Broadcom already went under loss. Google is worried of Huawei's own OS. Verizon is under pressure from Huawei for the patent stuff.

This is actually pretty smart and kinda dumb in some ways. Smart because now people in Europe will not have to fear about spying as it's Sailfish, Russia won't have to fear spying because of Aurora, and the Chinese Market will get Ark. Dumb only in the fact that 3 OSes would be too difficult to handle all at once

DavidRegalJnr, 14 Jun 2019I know a lot of people love and support Huawei after the ba... moreI'll buy them. With HongMeng or Sailfish. Whatever they consider better from Huawei or other brand added to the group. Far from the crap apps mainly from US. Very unreliable those youtubers ... paid for YouTube! Google !!!!!!! They can continue there earning money with visits from people with a lot free time to watch them.

The new upcoming phones without Android that aren't tied to social crap will be perfect for people that are more productive and have better things to do in its time. Fasters, with less background process, more free space to install the apps they really need, etc.

If they try to make it as optimised as possible, no useless features, no bloat and proper app support and give somewhat peace of mind with security, people might buy phones with that OS

If this is true, this might be the best thing for Huawei. The possibility of a third OS was possibly taken by Microsoft, but Sailfish comes at a tie for me. The N9 was miles ahead of its time, all it needed was apps. I really hope Huawei adopts it, would really give the brand recognition Sailfish as an OS deserves.

programmer, 14 Jun 2019ow the o.s that owned by nokia. a great choice also is meego os.Linux ---> (Moblin & Maemo) ---> Meego ---> Mer ---> Sailfish ---> Aurora

I know a lot of people love and support Huawei after the ban with me included..but if you think it's going to be easy for them you're wrong.People constantly saying Google spyware and all that should realize that those apps are very important to a lot of people, there are a lot of people who aren't tech savvy fanboys they'll use anything for thier own convenience..just like Indians are xiaomi fanboys but won't admit Miui is a complete garbage and others couldn't care if you put an 855 in a $50 phone...Why would an average user want to be side loadiing Google services and even social apps.Look at all the YouTubers giving advice to not go rushing buying a Huawei phone until when the ban is finalized and when it is they surely won't be recommending them anymore. Was about to buy a Mate 20 phone but would rather an IPhone or Oneplus atm.Maybe it'll work out for them in Asia but anywhere else would be a tough ask tbh.
