Its not Nokia's fault, the reality is Symbian is on the verge of completing Introduction, growth, maturity and decline cycle and at last it will be dumped. This thing happens with all products and platforms thats why now companies keep on releasing new version of their products or platforms to keep it growing. Nokia failed to do it at first and also symbian already started facing engineering challenges and further developement was out of scope. So nokia choosed windows. Microsoft is known for its consistency as we can see its windows pc platform which is leader from decades.
Coming to the point i have done a research on nokia symbian smartphones. Whenever people visit electronic stores to buy phones they are free to use all the phones kept their. But what i have noticed is out of 100 only 1 or 2 tried symbian belle phones and kept it back, rest didn even touch it. Everybody were behind android phones and winners were galaxy note and S2. So whats the fault of nokia when people are not accepting it?
Atleast 20 in 100 tried lumia phones. Frankly speaking symbian phones look inferior compared to windows and andrid phones. I myself using Symbian E52 and Windows lumia phones.
I can say from my heart that symbian is very useful OS Because u can do everything and infact more things but experience is lagin since the smoothness is not present. Lumia phones are really awesome and after using it i felt that nokia made a wise decision by choosin windows.

Nokia should make more MeeGo devices instead of developing those awful windows phones. btw RIP Symbian, you were my love.

Symbian has always been my choice of OS for mobile phones but sad to see it go away like this. Same goes to the much potential WebOS. I guess importantly, "money" pleasing investors more realistically than realizing any dreams and visions.

I had Nokia 5800. My wife has SE Vivaz Pro with Symbian. Huge dissapointment! No more Symbian again. I switched to Android and very happy. It's sad that a Smartphone puioneer is dead.

I took a chance on an Omnia W. great phone. one major let down is memory - 8 gigs and that is it.
just hope it gets the Apollo update.

i wanted to wait for lumia 800, but i really needed to update my old N85 (yeah, you read it correctly, I used a N85 as main phone up until 2 months ago).

I find it amusing that gsm arena would even publish these rumors without asking Nokia to verify them. I'm sure we'll receive an official statement on the matter come Monday.

Long term it won't make a difference, because android will become irrelevant over the next few years; I'd be very surprised if its market share is even in double digits by the time Symbian is switched off.

Its going to be very sad to be Symbian disappear. I remember my first Symbian phone the Nokia 3650 then I got the N-gage which was at the time the most exciting phone out there.

I stayed true an loyal to Symbian for a number of years the last truly great one I had was the N95 the N97 was the last Nokia phone I owned and it was the first time I had a Nokia and felt second best... that was a sad day for me.

I still have every phone I have ever owned in mint working order and every now and then I take them out and power them up just for a dose of nostalgia.

If the next Symbian phone is truly the last one I will buy it just because its the last one.

Goodbye Symbian I will always remember you.
