blueglue, 09 Feb 2012well, any other manufacturer shall do the same for that sit... moreThere was never any need for making too much change in those version and by the way those were best updated version at that time. It wasn't like funky platform you are dying upon, didn't have multitasking, basic features and not like iOS still incomplete in many basic features. If you call someone a phone then it must perform good as a phone( like you buy a car and instead of car mileage you are praising it's seat cover) and in those terms still Nokia rules.

AnonD-41413, 09 Feb 2012Nokia lacks creativityYour nickname makes perfect sense for the ridiculous statement you made. Get into history, rest were still in b/w screens and stone age when Nokia was ruling with it's N series that still is the most sensitive set of smartphones for the real users (not for childish game playing kiddos). BTW, iOS till today is not able to match up what all N series did back then, ha ha haaaa

power hungry os - if youare refering ios, then its a no. if android - then again , you must experience what it can deliver too. android too is fluid enugh to run on 800 mhz cpu.
i play modern combat 3: fallen nation on my old galaxy s. i said old galaxy s considering the current trend, not to mention n9 only matches its hardware now. though i have s2 , i love the way original s plays the modern game. i suggest get an experience of it , try with any if your friends mobile once and i bet you can feel the difference.

My N8 has done me proud and except from early on crashes playing hi res video thru hdmi had no problems..All my photos are 12 MP shots for the future and xenon lit in bad conditions..Cant wait for this smarfone to arrive but Nokia need to get it out sooner than what they usually do.

                    Hello All
Please stop being fans of a specific brand. All brands have their specific pros and cons. I am currently using

                    Nokia e63 ~ 3years
Xperia Neo V since Oct '11
                    Nokia Lumia 710 ~ 1 month

All three are great phones with their specific pros and cons. Also, please research them before you comment. My e63 is built like a rock, steady battery backup and it once came under the wheels of a moving motorcycle but still works great. Symbian is user friendly. As for the lumia, it is a bit too delicate and the os limitations ae something i am waiting for to disappear. My neo is also good but it too has its flaws. As for the signal strenght debate, all my phones use 3g and the signal quality is like this

                    e63>neo v>lumia

will be back to see where this goes

Symbian was the great OS but lack development. When Nokia 5800 Xpress Music is launched it was very good mobile. Later on Nokia launched 5230, 5233,5235,5250,5530, X6,N97 and all are same. No development. And after Android Nokia started developing Symbian but with slow speed. Same story with the BlackBerry. I was a Nokia fan.

blueglue, 09 Feb 2012"Btw are good games not available for symbian?" ... moreAvailability of games depend on developers. The hype created around modern mobile games is pointless. Evn N900 plays modern combat with 600mhz cpu. So developers should be blamed for less games on symbian. Dont label symbian as win 98. Symbian was a win7 with classic theme. Now it has become real eye candy with substance. Its a no nonsence os unlike other resource hungry, power sucking os.

                                really are they available now?

I dont want to be provocative, but the fact remains, modern day games and apps are developed for ios / anroid, not even WP 7. Not to mention not a single custom ROM is developed for WP 7 till now.

and the reason why i raised the topic of games, i did like the snake game i used to play on my nokia, it was innovative then, not any more now.

Games always depend on the capability of h/w.added to that new APIs require o/s which can handle / manage h/w in a better way. subsequently adequate memory, gpu and processign power along with a good Screen + sound add to the gaming experience. COD cant be run on Win 98 though its a great o/s.
Camera too works with software,no more an integral part, except that it has a dedicated sensor,it can be modified (within the h/w limitations, obviously if you have a 5 MP sensor you cant program it to capture 8 MP)
