camera is not a deal breaker not saviour of the handset. and dont know what has Elop to be blamed ? at least he is trying to guide this mess to safer place. try encourage him and support him than lament for whats gone by.

boosook, 09 Feb 2012Guys, "largest sensor" does NOT mean "highes... moreMillions of units sold off the back of a decent camera? I don't think so.. What you'll find is that this will be the same trash Nokia has released for the past couple of years, they are putting a "better" camera on it to try and intice people over from iOS and Android, but it's not going to work, because everyone knows Nokia is a sinking ship.. Best make like Fabio Capello and bail before you get dragged under with them.

Guys, "largest sensor" does NOT mean "highest number of pixels"!!! We're talking about SENSOR SIZE, and this means that the larger it is the better the quality will be, of course we'll have to see how many pixels they'll put on the sensor, but the fact that they're emphasizing sensor SIZE and not PIXEL COUNT means they are concerned with quality more than marketing gimmick.
What's more, if the sketches are true, this thing could really have an optical zoom and maybe a xenon flash.
This means... the biggest missed chance for Nokia, because this thing could sell millions if only it had Android on board.

And there it is again, doing overkill things on phones that will get sacked. WHY!? Give as good 5 Mpix auto-focus cameras on all Nokia phones instead of garbage fixed-focus and we'll be more happy than for this nonsense. Seriously... I'd have bought Nokia C7 2 years ago if it had just auto-focus camera. Instead i went for the Samsung Wave. Which turned out to be a turd software wise but at least camera was great.

Why would anyone put a big module on the back then? It makes no sense to make the phone thicker and potentially heavier too? Thought the slimmer and lighter the phone the better is it? =/

Elop just wants to follow Microsoft. So even if Nokia release a phone having the best camera. They will focus only on their windows phones & the Symbian device will be kept in the showcase.

AnonD-3683, 09 Feb 2012Don't worry... The TROJAN HORSE will kill this device too, ... moreOk lets kill you theroy right now about the N9
The N9 was in some respects a new OS but the problem with it
was it really is not that orginal apart from swiping from edge to
edge on your Nokia smartphone there really is no wow factor their.

It still has row after row of icons so please when someone keeps going about how the N9 was going to save Nokia i just have to say really. coupled with the fact that there really isnt much in the app market for the phone and developers werent really knocking down the door to make a decent apps for it plus Nokia had already spent multi millions upon millions on what really was going to take the world by storm? yes i know somebody is going to talk about how it could use the Android apps but to be honest that was in beta.

Now far be for me to stick up for Elop but Nokia is a business not a nice charity Smybian was failing year on year then they had the N9 which had taken far to long to come to market, yes they could have gone the Android route which meant that all you were doing is pumping handset out after handset but where would be the difference.

Now i dont know if the WP7 will help them or kill them but it is a better risk than Meego that for all its years in has never really taken off. As i said time will tell but one question i have for you because you if Nokia to sell millions upon millions of WP7 handsets what will you say then? because is easy to live in the past and talk and just keep on reusing the old sayings again and again about Elop than to take a moment and think that Nokia is a business not a charity fan club

i have now on my desk a huawei u8850 with android 2.3.4 and a nokia x7 with symbian belle. when i load an internet page in parallel, both connected on the same wifi hotspot, nokia is 3-4 seconds behind than huawei. camera's performance is not anymore a selling point today. look at the best mobiles, they have 5,8 megapixels, bad optics like sgs 2, but no one is complaining, no one cares. all now want to access internet quick, to be on line. a new nokia with superb camera, but with symbian is a big mistake. use that camera on wp7.5, on a new lumia. it will be smashing. but a new device with n8 receipeis a failure

Nokia large sensor coupled with their lense design and expertise means we know Nokia will produce a camfone monster. They have years of expertise with camfones too.

Chewy, 09 Feb 2012HAHAHAHA Good one mate, and for your next joke? The largest or the best sensor? it has been proven that the size of the camera (megapixel) isn't the important part of the camera its the lense! So unless this has got the best quality (HD) and best sensor too this wont kill anything. Just a gimic for Nokia to claw back some lost revenue.

Now please see the Motorola Razr Maxxx ok? It's the new king now in terms of battery. It's more stronger than the Galaxy Note. By the way you are right, they have to do a lot to catch up with the others. I am not a Nokia hater, I wish they will make awesome phones soon. I hope that their last Symbian phone will be fantastic.
