Why is xiaomi trying to just kill our Vibes this 2h of the year first the mi a3 now the note 8 too pls what next🙄🙄

5,000mah battery would be good as long as they can keep the phone less than 9.2mm thick. More than that is too bulky imo.

The Lenovo P2 from 2016 had a 5,100mah battery and was only 8.3mm thick. I'm not sure why phones seem to getting thicker lately

jamesschwarz987, 21 Aug 2019Say goodbye to all of those Google Camera mods and ports. W... moreLol that's a niche need

The masses don't care about this

        Bootloader,root, gcam port etc...

Tech enthusiast typically have this idea that their needs are in the majority

I know for a fact though that gamers will enjoy call concurrence while gaming, simultaneous 2.4ghz and 5ghz WiFi connection and touch acceleration that this G90T is all about

The gamers won't make photos a priority

        Welcome to gamer ecosystem

Krisbenea, 21 Aug 2019Are you talking about official MIUI, don't telling lie here... moreI do not know if there was an update, but even if there wasn't, there is still much better unofficial support for snapdragon version

Thats sad. I have had only a single encounter with mediatek chip, and it was enough to convince me to never buy or recommend a mobile with one again

But the EPO file servers no longer exist, so how will GPS work reliably? Earlier for these crappy MediaTek chipsets, one could download EPO files using MobileUncle MTK tools, and the GPS lock times would come down from hours to around 7-8 minutes (time to first fix). Now that the EPO file servers are gone, how will GPS on these phones work? Or are they meant to be used without GPS (no maps, uber / lyft, food ordering, location related features)... Just... how?

Say goodbye to all of those Google Camera mods and ports. Welcome to the Mediatek ecosystem...

Thanks, Now I know that I should pass it completely. Xiaomi phones with MTK chipsets receive awful software support. They receive MIUI updates, but the Android version is stuck in the past forever. Furthermore, they will have zero Custom ROM development, what is really sad, considering how strong is the Redmi Note ROMs cummunity.

                              That's unfortunate

This means the update support will be awful. The Mediatek Redmi Note 4 ended up with Android 6 (which it had from the start) and nothing more. While the Snapdragon one got to 8.0. Surely I'll be skipping on this one.

Sounds promising. Should keep the price low while delivering great gaming performance. I wonder if this will be better or worse at emulation than the Kirin 980.

Mediatek give sources of the soc to Xiaomi, Xiaomi adds modules for the other parts of the hardware.
So that, only Xiaomi can release sources for a Xiaomi phone.

                                    ...will they do?
                                    It depends!
If they officially released the device in Europe, they will.
It was the case for Redmi 6 and 6A.

I have nothing against Mediatek but Custom ROM support will not be very good and also no google camera mod for Mediatek. Kids are more into mobile games these days so maybe it will be a good cheap alternative for them.
