Galaxy Ace never got Android 4. It's stuck in Android 2.3.7
OP responded and yes it's a Galaxy Young 2 because the first Young also never got Android 4 iirc

The dessert naming scheme is what made Android sort of stand out from the crowd. When Apple was doing the straightforward yet plain numerical OS naming scheme, Google was naming their OS revisions after desserts. Google going with numeric naming scheme isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just doesn't make Android stand out on the surface anymore.

I am glad Google stopped with many version of same android.
Making X.0, X.0.1, X.1.1 was very bad idea.
When companies received 7.0 to work with google already brought 7.1 ...
With just 9.0, 10.0 , 11.0 etc, it is much easier for OEMs to update.

I guess they've changed it because there's no dessert starting with letter Q lol. I guess QueQuember will be fine.

I'm sad they stop the dessert names, because I was looking forward to see what they would have used for R. My name start with R and it would have be nice to see what they choose, and it was just one year away!

I cannot express enough how extremely disappointed I am with Google for pulling off such an absurd move. They have single handedly removed one of their most defining identities
I also have never seen Froyo or Eclair in my life. I have no idea what Nougat is only after it was announced. Saying that not all know the desert names is a week and stupid excuse. It actually brings diversity since people are introduced to the deserts of the world
Now it's generic, boring, stale, soulless, unlike what Android is about. It's personality is about being able to cater to everyone, from the minimalist to the enthusiast to the power user. As their motto before, "Be together, not the same"
Kind of ironic that they are becoming more and more the same as Apple and this movie is obviously influenced by Apple. Google wanna be like Apple now and that's sad

I understand that dropping the dessert based names makes the brand sound more professional and all but it also takes away from their individuality. The naming scheme is one of the things that made android unique, if the only one left these days.
After all these years, all Android has left is that's a less secure version of IOS. If I was Huawei I would definitely try to exploit this with HarmonyOS.

Cool move. We don't need any desert name at all. iOS and Windows are without names and all is good and simple. I love Android for phones and Windows for computers and iOS for tablets. Keep improving Google. Just make Android faster and more stable. Design and logo and etc etc are less important.

Unless more open means I'm able to turn off background data gathering completely without rooting and possibly bricking my device then thanks, but no thanks.
