Sony Xperia 1 gets disappointing DxOMark score for both front and back cameras

My prediction came true. Too bad GSMArena deleted my comment without any valid reasoning for doing so...
Sony has great camera hardware, but they really need to improve their software processing to compete with the top dogs.

Unsurprising but ironic considering the Sony's imaging department is doing a great job and has premium prices for their latest cameras.

Doum, 29 Aug 2019the problem is precisely that comparing photos missed, no p... morePictures are taken in auto setting, HDR setting etc. Not all phones shoot in RAW and no average user would shoot in RAW and process in lightroom or equivalent.
In short, they do as most reviewers do when comparing smartphone cameras, as the point is to compare how they would fair for the normal user, not for a pro/hobby photographer shooting exclusively RAW and in manual mode.

I remember days Sony flagships had 20, 23 & 19 megapixels camera while other companies use 12mp cameras and after years Sony finally found out they should ditch their megapixels for using a better 12mp camera!!! That's so obvious it's Sony fault and not Dxo or other reviewers. Sony has no idea what they're doing. They make sensors for other companies but their cameras always far behind. In auto mode Sony phones are even worse than low-end phones and even in pro mode they can't beat other flagships and even some midrangers

How can anyone trust a website that puts the Xperia 1 at the same level as a midrange phone?
Sorry but I have seen the photos Xperia 1 takes snd there is no visible corner softness whatsoever.
I'm mentioning the corner softness because this is something I'm 100% certain I'm right. I haven't noticed any ringing either but what do I know? It's not like I'm taking photos as a hobby right?
To be honest, this website has lost its credibility since it started taking bribes.. and the say they are independent.

I hope the next Xperia flagship uses sensors commissioned by Huawei for their flagships. They made it for them so why not Sony use it for themselves?

Once it became widely understood that megapixel count was not the same thing as quality, the marketing types needed another number they could impress the marks with. Enter DxO.
The truth is that I know nobody who understands photography who takes these things seriously, and the more they know the less they respect them. That's not to say I think this is a good camera or a bad one - I've never knowingly looked at an image from it. Just that reducing photographic quality to a single score, based on a number of measurements combined via some arbitrary weighting which won't reflect their importance to you, is a futile exercise for any purpose other than marketing.

Same for the photo on the sofa, he criticizes the under exposure, the sony at a shutter speed of 1 / 64s and the p30pro 1 / 10s, logic that there is a difference in contrast and brightness (and the difference between is that if at this moment there are movements the x1 will have clear pictures but that it does not specify it)

All other brand fears to sony, they paid dxomark not give the high score to xperia, xperia 1 camera is professional camera and they given less score to iPhone 8, I used s10 plus, p30 pro, iPhone xs and Xperia far ahead all of them, xperia shows evrything classleading on its beautiful secreen, sony has standard and others make the world fool, if you take the pic from s10 plus then ser himself skin tune look like fake pink color, everything in pic shows china made color

karoko, 29 Aug 2019Huawei P30 Pro is top 2 on the list with oversaturated and ... moreIf u compared P30 Pro & Xperia 1 camera results side by side, u'll be surprise that Xperia 1 has the oversharpened (creates more artifacts, halos edges) & oversaturation (not too much over the top, still acceptable).
Those two things only exist on early software P20 Pro.
