Anything above FHD or HD plus is a complete waste and gimmick on a 6inch screen.

All I want is a white and evenly lit display without any weird tint spots, blobs, lines, etc. Like seriously!
Some people might say I have OCD but come on - when I'm spending so much money I'm entitled to expect a perfectly light distribution and no tints. Thank God for Kiwi browser coz I was going insane with my ROG 2. I'll see whether I'll try to unload it to someone else but one thing is sure, come spring and I'm getting whatever Sony releases. I don't care how revolutionary the S11 will be or whatever as the thing you see 100% of the time using a phone is the screen and the other manufacturers have dropped the ball

RGB oled is much more expensive.
Because it is better.
Nokia 808 has more than 4.000 sunlight ratio, while other oled phones from 2012 and 2013 could not even reach 3.000

imparanoic, 23 Oct 2019Presumably for semi pro filmmakers as alternative to broadc... moremy thoughts as well... they dont have a phone for the "masses"... i mean those people who always search for "high spec low price"... i must admit that i am not a full pledged xperia fan since i have not upgraded since z5 premium... but it is also the same reason why i choose xperia... their devices lasts longer, their battery capacity is consistent... i hope they stand with their statement before on not stopping making phones... even if they leave all market except japan, i would still find a way to get one...

But yes, we don't know for sure who made this panel, but diamond pentile is generally the samsung touch.

Truth is on a 6 inch screen having anything above HD plus is for no use.
Even the bloke resposnible for radar at largest civilian airport in Paris, London or Newyork wont spot any differences between HD plus or 1080p screen and 4k on a 6inch phone screen.
Its just an expensive gimmick worth no money.

Otherwise Apple would buy from them instead of Samsung.
Xperia 1 uses Samsung screen.
I just know it is another Xperia with 120Hz, but locked at 60 just like every flagship since X series.
Tech sites never mentioned but XZ2 Premium has WRGB 144Hz from LG Display. Xperia P was first phone with white pixel.

The units of Mate 20 Pro with green issues were LG, not the BOE units.
XZ3 uses LG, while 1 and 5 use Samsung.
I laugh when I read the posts of Ice Universe. Samsung fanboys asking for screen that can do 1200 nits all the time. LOL !!!!
I think they do not know the 1200 is just for 1% of screen white. Not entire surface. Also they do know that high brightness raises temperature and damage oled faster.

It's probably made by JDI working together with Sony on the calibration and quality, so it's probably real 10-bit like xz3. I wonder who made my ROG 2's screen, as it's also 10-bit, though obviously not with consistency in mind.
In the end, the manufacturer doesn't really matter, only the end result. Samsung's displays used to be way more consistent even though not the most accurate. Now they are slacking just like BOE and LG probably due to the high demand have started using all screens they can make regardless of QC issues.
The screens are cut from one big one and the further away from the center you go the more and more issues appear, but apparently now everyone is using even the corner pieces. You can still get a great screen but only if you win the screen lottery. Otherwise, you are freaked. And retailers know about this and still act like you are crazy if you complain and demand a new unit.
