This might just be the processor, though the fact that Samsung stated it would go 5nm does make this seem like an upper midrange

Hopefully they will use ARM instructions this time because their in-house isn't good enough to catch up with Snapdragon.

Oh those were the days for mobile dreamers.

Estimates for 9820 was 607gflops
1.4x improvement with 1 less core
So for 990 it would be 780 gflops
Where Qualcomm 855+ is 1100 gflops which is still much more powerful compute and the 865 will be even faster
Hopefully the ddr5 and custom cores can do something this time

I wonder why Samsung doesn't start a Gaming series of phones.
Since OnePlus and even the Pixel offer 90hz display.
Samsung can plug in 120Hz display, top of the line specs, big battery, and accessory support.

It is better Samsung establishes worthiness of products by intensive in house testing and also field trials. Lest it may be a pitfall like s10 fold, s10 series fingerprint recognition problems in very quick succession for a single family of phone.
Samsung can very well factory fixed screen protectors like many brands do. After all its cost is trivial when compared to the prices Samsung charges.
In fact Samsung retained the same camera from S8 to S10 without upgrading sensors or lenses.
Not far back it had the battery problem in one of its model.
Being a premium brand, it should use Snapdragon for the whole globe instead of supplying only US with Snapdragon. Exynos is not matching the efficiency of Snapdragon, but still Samsung prices exynos phones with same name and same price of Snapdragon models.
Samsung may lose its goodwill if it is not carefully in design and quality, given the premium brand pricing of its products.

Exynos - Kirin - MediaTek etc... They can't beat Snapdragon. Only Apple's processor can compete with Snapdragon. But if iPhone start to work with android I don't know how Apple's processor can handle it.
