04 November 2019
The Exynos 9830 will likely be the first chipset to ditch the Mongoose custom cores.

And the death of Samsung's Cell Phone division begins. In 5 years they will only be making the OLED screens.

    Argh, one less mobile competitor
Hope AMD starts developing mobile chipsets

      Samsung's SoCs are trash anyway.
      Qualcomm's SoCs get trashed by A13 ...

As an Android user, this is a sad state.

Fortunately, not as bad as one would imagine. Samsung probably realised that their Mongoose team was fooling their sales and marketing department with figures. The setup of the Exynos had some serious discrepancies with regard to what is on paper and what actually exists. The development team was seriously fudging numbers.

Anyways, now that Samsung is working directly with ARM on its ARM processors, it can get better overclocking and better performance just by tweaking the arrangement of ARM processors, and using DynamIQ for better performance simply by tweaking instructions. Samsung Exynos SoCs can still beat Snapdragon processors, and the chances of purely ARM processors makes the chances higher.

Despite arguments in this section. None of them can beat the A13 Bionic

Anonymous, 04 Nov 2019Qualcomm doesn't care about performance, we are f@$!edWew. Performance numbers on paper matters. Benchmarkers, people who checks out benchmarks casually, and people who want to feel good by berating everyone below them wants the most powerful phone of the year. They'd rather let Antutu and Geekbench be the judge on what phone are they gonna buy. Apple is a powerhouse on that so we (Android) may lose these demographics for sure.

You're right about SD but as for the Exynos, the correct expression would be "Exynos USED TO beat Kirin". Exynos 9820 was worse than Kirin 980 in almost all CPU benchmarks and Exynos 9825 is overall inferior to Kirin 990 even though they are built on the same 7nm EUV lithography process.

Dealler, 04 Nov 2019You can´t compare chipsets on different platforms, noob.As if I'm the one who started this whole discussion lol. And that's the flawed argument which has been proven incorrect long time ago.

Also it proves you are unable to understand the news properly. Exynos isn't shutting down. It's the Mongoose department that is shutting down.
