Back to topic of the article, i'd like to know if anyone can reply to my query.
- Where is the money gone nokia? after all the years of enjoying the huge market
- Why does nokia sell their handsets at a very hefty price , although it has inferior h/w
- At the same time other OEM are able to sell the handset with great h/w for more or less same price and still make profits
Omnia W and Lumia 800 share same h/w specs except 5mp to 8mp, yet the price is almost double, why?

Verbal_Criminal, 04 Apr 2012"2 us market does not equal the world market. while io... moreInteresting talk.
specially when we talk about the ratios in Asia, its really difficult to get the actual figures. India, china , phillipines all have local manufacturers with very high % of mobile users. not only symbian, theres aint any SMARTPHONE os for them. and all these local manufacturers grabbed the share from Nokia. that said, nokia still pioneers the low end range of phones in comparision other brands. Middle east is still good with nokia, but slowly moving towards android in the high end & smartphone segment.
I must say, Local OEM has an advantage. a study states how miserably Siri failed to respond to japanese language, while a similar app developed by a local OEM outsmarted siri.

If i were you, i'd not bash the man after he has given out his version of explanation with an Apology.

Added to that, there arent many saints here in a public forum. Finally, i'd like to know if nokia rulz or nokia fanboy has anything to say on this.

AnonD-3575, 03 Apr 2012i dont think some people understand some things, ill try to... more"2 us market does not equal the world market. while ios and android reign supreme there, symbian rules other, much bigger markets (china, india, whole africa) and i dont think its a matter of availability. people there have choices and they choose nokia."
would like to correct you on that. let's base it from the two largest population in asia. China and the Philippines. Bought known for having the largest numbers of people using a cellularphone (the later as the texting capital of the world. In china...there are a lot of smalltime phone manufacturers like cherry mobile and copycats of nokia, samsung. there is also kingcom, now including the big guys, huawei and ZTE, since these manufacturers offers more less expensive phones for the market, they control almost 70% of it. and they don't use symbian.
going to the phillippines, nokia has a big market here, but since it's also a third world country, 89% of the population prefers to get a "CHINA PHONE". and they have one growing phone manufacturer there as well "MYPHONE".
I'm pretty much sure that there are other small manufacturers in india africa and other countries aswell that does not use SYMBIAN OS since nokia can easily sue them.

AnonD-3575, 03 Apr 2012i dont think some people understand some things, ill try to... moreFew good points with a certain degree of sarcasm.
1. Well, Accenture supporting Symbian would be an ASSUMPTION, things dont work based on ASSUMPTION, atleast with Software. Secondly, even if we consider your optimistic opinion of accenture supporting symbian, it could be tagged with a hefty price, considering Accenture a service oriented IT firm.
2. US , UK, Europe - donot contribute for large market share in comparision to the world, but they do contribute for LARGE SMARPHONE MARKET SHARE. Yes AMEA, India and CHINa have large Mobile phone userbase. AS known NOKIA is leader in those markets, where is the Money? why are they slashing down business units, employees, outlets etc etc?
3. Again, another ASSUMPTION, well more optimistic this time. Meego is closed, so is Maemo - by Nokia. and Nokia failed to deliver it. period.

Probably you have not understood what i said, Nokia dint deny Google. Its the other way around, Google Rejected Nokia. i have also specified the reasons of denial. refer to my earlier posts.
There wasnt any thing new about unlocked bootloaders, infact Samsung released with unlocked bootloaders right from SGS, the first of its fame. subsequently, HTC LG MOTO followed later due to increasing request from Userbase.

AnonD-3575, 03 Apr 2012i dont think some people understand some things, ill try to... moreOk firstly you dont have to talk down to people and patronise them to get a point accross. With that said allow me to rebuff.
1. Nokia were forced as part of thier partnership with Windows to drop symbian. So when you say "symbian and the developers for it have moved from nokia to accenture" you neglect to mention that this was a move of necessity, not a choice.
2. Saying symbian rules other markets doesn't prove anything!! What are you backing this up with?? I would be inclined to agree with you that symbian dominates the market in countries where financial hardship forces people to purchase cheaper handsets because nokia and symbian certainly have the budget market conered. But are you trying to tell me that a lumia 800 is a more appealing choice than a HTC One X if you have the money for either??? Pllllllllllllease
3. "most people with smartphones today dont know about updates, apps and such".........are you serious with this?? I work for a telco in Australia (one of the most ethnically diverse countries in the world) and deal with people from all walks of life everyday who not only know about apps but request phones with the best software for downloading apps and easy updates. Millions of apps means choice and varying levels of quality.I could go on but this is a really weak argument and doesn't deserve much more.
4. Why do you think there are less Nokia phones on display in stores?? Nokia have burnt the public by falling behing in the smartphone race early and consistantly producing mediocre handsets. N97, N97 Mini and N8 among some of the biggest culprits. The problems at Nokia go way beyond an OS, ITS THE HARDWARE!!!!! In my opinion they need to go back and design one solid handset and focus on it, get some runs on the board and then look at branching out, wether it is arrogance or optimism they are trying to do too much from too far behind and its not working...at least when it comes to smartphones. I know nokia fans will hate this post and I dont take alot of pleasure bashing them because I loved nokia and stuck with them through alot of bad handsets but this is all true.
Oh BTW n900?? Seriously when are people going to stop bringing this phone up??
