Samsung Galaxy S11+ may come with a custom 108MP sensor

It will be better and more expensive than the regular Bright HMX sensor we've seen so far.

      While the phone isn’t cheap or overly expensive( it is still a bit pricey for me for 499usd), but just imagine a better chip like the SD865 as some videos show how great it is and all the upgrades and features of this new chip,

      And so for that if the phone is around 600 - 700 I’m okay with it, and I can just wait for a bit for its price to drop( probably 550).

      Then it will be a great phone with the op specs, and Xiaomi just need to improve the tuning of camera and the app.

          With OIS, hybrid or dual pixel, and variable bright aperture.

            also having a ludicrous amount of Megapixels means you have to pair it with a lens that can resolve all those details (if you've ever held a decent DSLR lens you would know it's just not possible for phone lenses)

              would love it if the manufacturer decided to make phones thicker to make room for a 1-inch 50-megapixel sensor

                What? No Huawei is playing the mp war. High MP phones and low MP phones have been around before. Nokia,Microsoft and HTC have done it before Huawei was even relevant.
                Nobody is playing catch up with Huawei. They are playing catch up with themselves because Huawei sees the leaks and releases phones before them. Punch holes, Notches, Camera hump designs. Huawei copies everyone lol.
                And yet the iPhone with it's "poor" camera resolution is the better camera phone overall.

                  I really liked my 808 pureview, still have it. It did not 'start any trend' or 'follow any trend' in my opinion. Nokia engineers simply made the best camera phone they could for an acceptable price.
                  Certainly was a follow up to the N93 with zoom lens which didn't work out well, so they tried different ways. Maybe we'll say the same about the 9 pureview in 5 years...
                  Then again, Huawei and Samsung just build phones the market wants. Oversaturated pics or not.

                    12Mp with 3x3 binning may be interesting. 10Mp from mate30pro is easily best all rounder as to detail and hdr output. Image processing matters as much as sensor tech.

If you want decent photos with Hua... moreYeah, that's exactly how you're supposed to take a photo with ANY phones with Quad Bayer or Tetracell sensors, and most likely you will have to do the same for S11 as well, shooting at native 27MP resolution instead of advertised 108MP. If those sensors had the same resolutions but on a traditional RGB Bayer filter instead, then their dynamic range and low light performance would've been quite abysmal.

                        The Last Oracle, 10 Dec 2019Looking at the photos from the Xiaomi Mi10 Pro, the 27MP HD... moreOne reason why Mi Note 10's photo doesn't look as sharp as its sheer MP count suggests might be the software tuning - Xiaomi's processing applies hefty amount of NR to ensure the image is clean under all lighting conditions which takes away the finest details. This also explains why in DxOMark it scored only 1 point higher than Mate 30 Pro, a phone with effectively 10MP sensor vs Xiaomi's 27MP Tetracell sensor.

                        Looking at Samsung's past tendency to oversoften the textures to get rid of as much noise as possible, I'm not entirely sure if they can do a better job than Xiaomi in this regard (though HDR processing will be more FAR MORE consistent on S11, that's for sure). Samsung neither has an experience with different CFA configuration, so even though a RGBW sensor technically might be easier to manage compared to a RYYB sensor in terms of colours and detail reproduction, I don't know if they would get it right on their first try - and to me that certainly sounds more like what Huawei would do for P40 rather than Samsung for S11. As for the lens quality, again, we have yet to see whether Samsung is actually capable of designing good lens that can resolve 27MP of resolution evenly across the frame... I mean like that must be a huge challenge for ANY phone companies given how large the sensor is.

                            Looking at the photos from the Xiaomi Mi10 Pro, the 27MP HDR photos seem to have slight motion blur, and also aren't as sharp as a 27MP should be, especially in comparison with 12MP photos. Again, if one were to compare the 12MP photos taken from the best 48MP Quad Pixel sensors, one would notice this a lot more clearly.

                            If you then read the product literature of the Teracell Sensors you will notice this more clearly. The 48MP Samsung GM1 (as well as its Sony equivalent IMX586), doesn't have DRAM and yet they both do full res photos at 30fps.

                            On the 64MP Samsung GW1, the Tetracell sensor does full res photos at only 21fps (it may do more after, in the next version of the 64MP sensor). So there are lesser frames to get information from, for HDR, since the original dynamic range of the sensor will be more in the ballpark of under 10 stops (more like 7-8 stops). The Samsung Bright HMS on the other hand, does full res at 30fps, so it appears that the Snapdragon 730G is grossly underpowered, and thus unable to handle the processing required for 27MP (at 9fps or whatever the minimum required amount is for good HDR). So the Snapdragon 865 should be sufficient to handle this level of processing, and the added RAW LDDR4X should also be fast enough for much faster and better photo processing. The Bright HMS probably needs a little tweaking of CFA (with one set of quad white pixels), to improve low light even further (by about 66% or so), and by having a sharper lens for better detail, and maybe have DRAM for pre-burst and better processing.

                            If the Snapdragon 865 does justice to the new 108MP sensor, the S11 Series could have a monster of a smartphone camera, that should rival 20MP photos from 1inch point and shoot cameras.

                                      If we have 95% of benefits (for the end user, who doesn't use all features of a phone), for 30-50% the cost, seems like a fair deal to me.

                                      I think we all agree that S11 will be a killer performance phone(!), unfortunately with a price also being killer-grade (!!).
