However, i dont think Nokia is in a position to 'force' MS to change things. keeping in mind, the development has already started, its not wise to change the design now. Also, there are other OEM ready to manufacture devices as directed by MS. Samsung is all geared up for Win 8, i believe HTC and LG are also interested.

Anonymous, 18 Apr 2012ya sure, the GS2 will get ICS like the Galaxy S got the ICS... moreI am sorry, but what did you say?
Have you considered the fact that MS directs the H/w restrictions for WP devices? and There are new H/w 'rules' for win8 as well.
at this point of time no one has information on how the Win8 shall be 'interacting' with the h/w (as its touted to have different approach than Wp7).
and the link you have given doesnt give any concrete information, thats clearly written there. do give another read.
updating across platforms - could be with Apps (as said by the verge) not the entire o/s.
And yes, Samsung with GS update has a choice, bcoz Andorid is open, Google laid NO restrictions on the h/w. Most importantly, Samsun sold over 10 million Galaxy S handsets, it made enough business.
This may not be the case with Nokia, its already sinking and doesnt have an option to gamble with new WP devices. In their current situation, they have send an update to the existing userbase.

blueglue, 18 Apr 2012Probably you should learn more about WP. MS has clearly mar... moreI do not think Nokia would agree with MS(being their largest manufacturer) if MS is designing the WP8 not to work with current lumia range, they would at least force MS to make WP8 work with 900 (& 800 hopefully). And MS has specifically told that the WP8 will run on lower hardware than the current phones, so I think updating lumia range to WP8 would not be much of a problem.
In any case, I feel its too early to decide if the lumia range will be updated or not, as WP8 is currently in development.

AnonD-2349, 18 Apr 2012ya it will surely get jelly beans and even key lime pie ( i... moreya sure, the GS2 will get ICS like the Galaxy S got the ICS update.
Wake up man!! Google cant force an update on the device, Samsung has to do it, and if Sammy decides against it then there will not be any update. Do u think GS does not have hardware power to run ICS, it does, but Samsung decided against the update.
Similarly if MS releases WP8, Nokia has to decide which devices get the WP8

arun, 18 Apr 2012@vnn This is like fighting now for what devices will be upd... moreProbably you should learn more about WP. MS has clearly marked the H/W requirements for WP7 /7.5.
If Win8 is coded to run on specific h/w (which is not identical to WP7.5)then there isnt anthing OEM can do.
