How about employing a captcha type system? Along with that you could ask the voter to produce an email address for voting verification, they would have to confirm the vote via a link sent to their inbox. That would in my opinion really slow them down.

Flush everything away, start a fresh sandwich and don't take another trail because people will not agree again if at all playstation network is down again nor the apple's flashback problem hits again.
As a loyal reader of Gsmarena from 2007 as far I remember . It is to me like gsmarena has started just a year before but you guys made it a great success .
I mean that , flush everything and start a new rating algorithm.

its a simple solution. what you need to do is a combination of number 2 and number 3. together they will create a pretty strong voting system. what you should also do if you do implement number 2 is make it so that only one vote can be made per phone by any one user. any attempt to make a secoond vote on the same handset should then result in a warning to said user giving these dumb *ss fanboys a chance to grow up and get over it. if they dont then they lose out. also keep IP filtering in place just incase one of these pathetic douche bags decided to create a seperate facebook account to try and tamper the results that way. other than that keep up the good work guys :-) peace

When someone votes, give them an option to enter comments. without that the vote won't be registered. However, there is a possibility of voters typing N/A or the same comment over an over again in voting option. So you simply filter the same comments on N/A comments from the list. You won't get a 100% accurate result, however, this will curb the issue of bogus votes.
Hope it helps.
Thanks, regards.

only solution is to remove the voting system. and you, i.e. gsmarena should give marks to phone according to the phone review done by it.

Well see that you've different type of comments, including "hand-on experience review", why not adding a rating systeme for eache review/comment from 1 to 10 stars:
like this if you give 5 stars you'll for sure give a valid arguments for your rating.
And if you You give 10 or 1 starts sans any valid arguments that will justify your rating, well your comment/review will be just like a "nonsence".
People like me have time to make lot of ratings for the same phone but not the time for a valid comment/review (that will be based on your exprience with the selected phone for sure)
With a system like this, comments/reviews numbers will be limited for sure but will have quality.
Just my Opinion ;)

Anonymous, 20 Apr 2012You should begin accepting votes based on IP, that way, som... morefiltering with IP is useless, because everyone can get in from proxy and there are thousends of them

People rate a phone prior to release and after using it. @Gsmarena: are you considering both these factors.
Increase in parameters, however they have to be generic (to avoid confusion). If you wish to rate the handset based on the specific Parameter then there should be list applicable for each individual device, OR there can be a generic list for SMARTPHONES & FEATUREPHONES. This can be expanded incrementally.
Add EXPERTS ( plural added intentionally) Rating for the same factors. In due course of time Gsmarena can choose to elect some regular users as one of the Expert (again can be future expansion). The ratio split can be 60-40 or 50-40-10 (the factor 10 are reserved for Gsmarena, they will be added after gsmarena completes a full review the phone(not the first look). Reason why i have added is, couple of handsets perform brilliantly after a minor update/patch)
For immediate implementation OPTION 2 is suitable. However, remove all the ratings and start afresh. atleast for the devices which are not less than 3 year old OR atleast for the handsets which gsmarena suspect to have a high fake votings.

I think only logged in users must have the option to vote, and only for example 1 vote per week. Or per month. Or maybe they can point to three phones from one to three, only once per month.
I think this voting system is wholy a crap. Why an iphone 4s is abut 6 and a LG is at first?

Anonymous, 20 Apr 2012You should begin accepting votes based on IP, that way, som... moregsmarena already said that dedicated fanboys (rather then dedicated i like 'crazy' more) can use some methods to avoid ip detection..
and for my suggestion i think you should go for number 3, and you can ignore some votes after it reach some point in a day, that way you can at least prevent some "fanboys voters" you can use your old data to figure out how much votes actually given in a day as a base to count how much of that is actually a credible votes..
