u should change the comment box like facebook with easy commenting system, which will allow reader to post post directly on that page.

Either 2 or 3. Clean start would be good.

An ofshoot of number 2... You can have us register on your dedicated database, not using facebook so that voting will not be limited to those with facebook account... Anyways, many people have a facebook account anyway... But if the concern is only facebook users will be able to vote, then have users register directly to this website to be able to vote... Just a suggestion though...

I think you guys at gsmarena should also give STAR RATINGS to atleast the most popular phones. Like it should also help the first time buyers record your opinion. Like if the fanboys rate it high your ratings might also help others..
E.g.: Samsung s2 user ratings 8.something and say gsmarena rates 4 or 4 and half stars overall..
          I think this is simple....

Leave it as is. I think most people and even new users of this website use view the voting system with a grain of salt. What I personally view as value to back up the phone rating systems is the level of effort you put into your reviews with comparisons to the top contenders, camera tests, battery tests, I would also love to see drop tests too but oh well.

I think smart buyers who are really to stop a few hundred on a phone will conduct their own research and not simply leave it to a rating system. The only exception is the iPhone.

Option 2 is the only option really.

U need a combination of solution 2 and 3. Not sure how to implement it, but thats what u need. You can have where they log in to vote and then also a one vote per account kind of scene (per day or whatever). Though I think some ppl would jus have multiple accounts, but how many wud u have. The results would still be skewed in some way, but the accuracy level would also be higher. Hope this comment reaches and intended crowd and it also helps in someway. Cheers.

Hi, your 2nd option is definitely the best. If you are concerned about only registered users voting on your polls, well look at this way. Interactive networking like Facebook and Twitter, as you know, is hugely (even the word hugely isn't enough) popular. So anyone who is online and reads GSMArena News and Blogs will definitely (99.9%) be interacting on Facebook or Twitter. So

                              Advantages:
You will restrict voters to people with proper Facebook or Twitter accounts.
The numbers will be perfect. Its not about the total number of votes you get. Its about the proportion of votes you get that allows the ranking of phones. And this proportionality will indeed work.

                              Disadvantage:
If indeed users are desperate to make their phone shine, well, the worst thing that can happen is get multiple votes from one user who has a facebook and a twitter. And this is only for the desperate ones who have no life :-). Hopefully this will only affect numbers to a minimal compared to the completely false data you get now.

Hope the clarification helps. I love your website because I love phones. So I definitely want to see it get proper numbers and perfect reviews. Cheers

option 3. Especially since i dont use facebook, or other social networking sites.

From experience using positive feedback voting systems, here is my suggestions:

--- Please select this phone's 5 BEST attributes (1 being most favourite and 5 being lease favourite) ---

                                      Design
                                      Battery Life
                                      Wireless Communication Options
                                      Performance of phone calls
                                      Display
                                      Software (OS)
                                      Ease of use
                                      Keyboard
                                      Available Apps
                                      Popularity

So there are two possible implementations - every person can vote for 5 attributes, and the top 3 and bottom 2 are displayed as most and least rated attributes on the phone specs page. Phone popularity can be calculated as percentage of daily visits/views/votes. The other option would be displaying only the 3 or 5 most popular attributes.

This way you can always add attributes to the list to make it more complete and interesting for the reader.
