With experts and pros at GSM Arena evaluating and reviewing each and every gadget, I suggest that their unbiased reviews must be valued more than anything else. Their apt judgements must be recorded and displayed separately as "Experts' Judgement" that cannot be meddled with. In addition to this I suggest you to add user ratings that can change according to the user experiences of that gadget. Further, in case of extremities, you can add a 'Favorite' icon that increments with a maximum rating and decrements with a minimum rating, therefore people under extreme categories are automatically grouped under the Favorite icon. Lot of people(including me) rely heavily on these ratings hoping that they are true to the maximum extent for every aspect of the gadget and then decide to move on with the best. So, its high time the voting systems get some major overhauling. Thank you GSM Arena ☺.

GIL, 20 Apr 2012the ratings should be from 0 to 20 giving a wider range to ... moreCompletely diagree with this. I think 10 is perfect, you could even get by on 5, or 100 :) Doesnt matter 10 is enough. Maybe do something similar to what you are saying and give half marks?

My Suggestions:
1. IP-Filtering with Region. For example if I am from Pakistan and its easy to detect from my IP that I am from Pakistan than I should be allowed to vote for phones that are Officially available in my region. This way fake votes can be reduced.
2. Dont ask people to vote without being getting their comment :). Yes give this option in the Review for phones, Or at the Phone specification. When user click for adding a comment to the phone, there a simple button for VOTE FOR or VOTE AGAINST could do the trick. In this way people who used the particular phone can give their actual opinion and from their votes you can Rank the phone. People HAVE TO ADD comment for Vote make the fake vote more less.
Continue doing a GOOD JOB
Regards
Zia

Option 3. or you do this. keep two separate votes. one users and other critics. no one can mess wit critics vote. its your control. plus fanboys will be happy wit messing up user votes...

You had a voting system? Thats a shocker!
Jokes aside, I believe "like/dislike" system (youtube ripoff) plus facebook-connected "like" system (keep'em both at the same time, log in required) would be best. It gives people ability to find their liked phones fast and simple, and it gives us ability to dislike phones we don't like (would be nice to dislike for specific things, up to 3, like laggy operation or bad camera or too fragile, same thing for likes - 3 things you like the most about a phone - its price, its build quality, its screen).

There shall always be this problem. Huge comapnies have armies of supporters tirelessly (and perhaps: free of charge) working up their rankings. Take Apple for instace. Or Google. It's pointless to have such voting system at all .... There's no such thing as "best" phone as "best" is always a subjective term. For some it might be a pentacore toy, for others: a quality communicating device

I support the option 2 and 3.
My suggestion is that you can have a countdown clock to allow voting, for instance, you vote in one phone and only after 5 minutes you can vote again, and not on the same phone. Globally each phone cannot have more than 2 votes per minute. Each vote with a greater mean of 9.9 or less than 2.5 will be excluded. Each phone cannot have votes separated less than 3 minutes.

I think that a good solution can be if you just can send your vote if you are using I that moment the cellphone or gadget by your vote going tobe. Maybe is use only way to control that your vote will be for the correct cellphone.

Introduce no.2 and keep the current IP address restriction feature increasing its restriction length... that is 2hrs or more. I mean 2 person cannot vote from the same computer for a specific amount of time even though they have a facebook account.
Hey, facebook has got 800 million active users, with is numbers increasing day by day... remember?? :)

Yes, voting system needs improvement.
I believe that only mobile phone owners should be able to vote, as they're only deserving of it.
Ask them their IMEI/ os version, plus facebook logging in... But again, how will you verify the imei's is my question to you guys.... Can you check a given imei number to be real?
Otherwise, i can't think of anything else which is foolproof... or fanboy proof...

the ratings should be from 0 to 20 giving a wider range to the voters, that can allow easy differenciation between phones
