Apply standard deviation, remove the very worst rating and the very best. Look at what the majority voters are saying, not extreme votes. Otherwise option 2.

option 2..will just work fine.
most people(like me) dont indulge in voting and dont care about them as long as we can read the specs and comments to know about a phone. If there are people who wanna vote they should log in and should only be allowed to vote once.

If possible try and also show the total number of units sold for a given cellphone.....
After all the selling of a particular cellphone is a pretty good measure of the buyers liking !
Yup I know the iPhone would then be the most popular cellphone around.
Also why don't you guys put your ratings (like CNET)....I mean the kinda detailed review you guys do makes you the best judge !

I won't vote if you use "only" Facebook. No way..Simple as that. You use disqus account, good enough for me. Is facebook paying you to use their account? This is just as pathetic as your present voting system. I Give me 1 valid (I mean just 1 valid) reason why I should use Facebook account to vote and not any other account. Why not google account or disqus or any other? You guys are just as pathetic as Facebook.

Just introduce a two way voting system..one provided by gsmarena expert review and another the people's votes...the peoples voting system shud b the one thats existing now...
facebook login is not a great idea.....

Thanks GSMArena for your interest in the opinions of visitors to your site, and to ensure the impartiality of the vote
I suggest leaving the voting system as it is (option no.1), but provide a way to filter the votes of the lowest and the highest votes, as is the case evaluate the performance of the players compete in some sports games e.g. diving, and synchronized swimming etc...
and may be using charts to be good to show voting results

Personally i dont think there should be open poll, only the members(GSMArena or FB stc) should be allowed to vote(that too only once for each phone)...

I think voting system is flawed.
Some people are suggesting GSMArena should have its own share of voting.
But the problem is rating is very poor representation of phone.
Eg: IPhone 4s and Samsung S2 are very good phones but both have rating of 9.
Person using 4S will be utterly disappointed for its movie watching experience, where S2 excels .
While another 4s user will be delighted for its user experience.
I think GSMArena should have RECOMMENDATION LEVEL for most common task.Such as:
Web Surfing
Movie/Video Watching
Gaming
Build Quality.
And for last comments section should be replaced by threads. Cause they allow specific topics to be discussed.(Though there is possibility of fanboi war on threads )

I would stick to allowing only logged-in users to vote. But why Facecrap account? Wouldn't it be enough to have your own account? It would be difficult for fanboys to register accounts in a number enough to manipulate the voting system, they would need an e-mail address for each one of them, it's very boring to register 100 emails ;).
And resetting all the votes is essential, no matter of the solutions you choose.
