I aint bothered about the voting I come on here to read great in depth reviews about phones im looking to buy then make my own choice. I think the votes should go.

Doing something like facebook doesnt give a result what the best phone is, but what the best advertised phone is.
The main advantage of a good voting system is actually finding a really good phone that somebody may not already know.
Solution:
same design features performance thing, but let voters motivate their choice with at least so many characters and connect the vote to an account with a corresponding emailadress, that should reduce the false votes.
OR, make a system that connects a value to a feature of a phone that can be measured(camera resolution, computing power, screen, ease of use, software support, leave out things like screen size or color) For example, let the grade for battery life count heavier that the grade for what version of bluetooth it has. LET PEOPLE VOTE ABOUT HOW MUCH EACH FEATURE SHOULD COUNT! Features that can't be measured and are about preferences(screen size, design) should still be polls. Also let people vote about how much these features counts in the final grade.

No matter how much less no. of people vote, it will at least ensure accurate voting...

I would suggest to have one more ratings as in expert's ratings , the one who have reviewed the phone along with the rating given by the users via votes ... A better way than this would also be to add ratings given by different sites and differrent experts an sort of average to be considered before shuowing the best phone around on the list ....

why gsmarena have no independent registering with out facebook logging on...
in some contries (like iran ) facebook site is filtered . how should them log in...!!?
i suggest that reset all voting data & each user register in gsmarena ( with a simple & free & fast registering without needing facebook profile ) so each user can vote only one time . that's a good & suitable way.

gsmarena must start registration of its users like facebook....also take test of users by asking them hard questions to know the people who really have knowledge about mobiles...this will improve voting system

1. Make "vote weight coefficients" for the logged and not logged users (for example 1 for logged and 0.2 for not logged user).
2. Not logged users can't give max and min values.
3. Not logged users make their vote by slider with step 0.001 and if some value (8.999 for example) have more then 1000 (for example) appearances to be removed.

Can you not have one of those pictures with letters and numbers that needs to be entered every time you want to make a vote. That perhaps could stop automatic voting.

To GSMArena,
Just allow vote of those users who have a valid facebook profile and need to log in to vote just like to post a comment. DO NOT accept vote of anybody.
I hate voting spammers. Have seen a load of idiots voting for S8500, I9100 unnecessarily. Shame on them.
And besides that i think you guys should create a new chart to vote you findings and all. Least it'd be non biased and needless to say spam free :)

I think you should make two voting systems which will run simultaneously. One should be peoples choice while ones should be experts choice.
The public choice can be either as it is now or limited to people with login. On the other hand the experts choice can be limited to the people at gsmarena like the editors, employees who actually review each phone. This system will allow people to see which phone is liked by the public as well as which phone is liked by professionals who review phones.
This is just my opinion to the problem you are facing!

The first is useless.
The second and the third delete existing scores,
but only the second solution prevents biaised votes in the long term.
It would however be useful to keep displaying the existing scores after the new system implementation.
"Old" phones will not be voted for again very often.

Why don't you make it simple and clear?
Combine 2nd and 3th option.
First filter Facebook from none Facebook votes. Then add captcha for each separated vote. Also request some user personal identity, (like real phone number) As somebody already mentioned.
Also only one vote per user. You won't need the IP filter. No need of cookies and etc.

filter rapidly going votes for particular device
for example when lg is going to fast up or down you delete votes from time when was too much of them, like week or two
