They started with NM (Nano Memory) instead of
microSD, next is HMS instead of GMS, and further,
through 5G...
And the final result is ... ... CoV !?!

Everything has to start somewhere, if they can build an ecosystem that would match google then it would be great for competition.

True with the cheap price they might get customers but mind you many companies do not trust china and Huawei. The company I’m working for and as far as I know all companies that deal business related a bit to government has warn of using huawei, and I am not even from usa nor Europe.

IpsDisplay, 30 Jan 2020There are some problems with this logic and comparison with... morePeople are into an ecosystem, Android with Google services or iOS. Without that ecosystem you can't play a role on the global market. Don't forget Google can't be used in China, and the Chinese regulation and total control. That's why Huawei is so big in China, the people there aren't even used to Android smartphones with Google services because it's simply not allowed. Therefore they rely heavily on regulated app stores like the one Huawei installs on their phones, the App Gallery by Huawei. Don't get me wrong, I applaud any competitor to Google or iOS, I am by no means a Google fan. But I simply don't see it happen on a global scale.

Hauwei doesn't need GMS anyway... HMS is already proving to be offering quite a few things on par with GMS.

They have some already better services than what Google has. And this is really good news for the consumer. Android phone by nature. With the choice of making it a Google phone. Or another alternative called HMS.

This is great news. Consumers deserve more choice. And that is not at all a bad thing.

Huawei should go and make their own software and quite depending on other people's work. Show us what you're made of Huawei. If it's good and people like you'll benefit so much more than forever depending on other people's work.

Yeah, that's why they were spamming the same phones over and over again all this year and not because those could actually have the GPS, right?

That’s a bold move. Keep going Huawei to stop Google’s monopoly.

This is the only moment where you can provide an alt solution that can gain momentum. Here, the timeframe was closed in about 2010. The market is firmly established.

The only way for Huawei to push their new platform is to open a new market and pair it with their platform or turn their platform into something that will cater to a niche that can grow and influence others (like how devs and techies are on Linux and UNIX derivatives and now Linux is growing in the PC market, although very slowly).
