Anonymous, 24 Feb 2020This phone is not Ultra competitor and that will be reflect... moreI checked S20U photo quality by myself hands on and quality is MUCH better than S10+. Particularly the brand new front facing camera. Im genuine impressed what Samsung has done with S20U spec wise. Screen is fantastic, photo quality dramaticaly improved after years of pushing same S7e sensor. audio quality from built in speakers albo very good. Plus 45W fast charge, 5G mm modem, up to 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage USF 3.0. Trully flagship spec. It will be my next phone after S9+. Only complain is very high price.

    Dear Sony,

I'm afraid nobody cares anymore about your overpriced, oversized TV remote control mobiles. You should have stuck with a proper flagship Compact line as your customers have been telling you for years but hey, your clueless execs know best right?

Well all in all their release of Smartphone was lot better than their release of Televisions this year.

S20U's one... moreComparing 4K to 4K image quality I can guess for SONY doing better here with new setup unless it completely screwed up on implementation as on paper it is looking promising and even low-light image will be close if not better. But as it is, I would wait till it is made available for at-least tech reviewers to provide unbiased reviews.

Anonymous, 24 Feb 2020Weird name, but great to see Sony go back to the headphone ... moreActually it's not weird. Having the same model and just increasing the "Mark" number is common practice in cameras. In cars as well (ok, they don't have "Mark" in name, but that's because they release new model every 5-6 years, not every year).
But I like the idea of having always the same phone with increased Mark, there would be much less confusion that way. Especially for Sony since their naming scheme is really a mess for a last few years

In many ways, Sony Flagships seem like LG's flagships (with an unnecessary 4k display), with not as impressive sound recording, similar camera performance, now a similar sound DAC, similar log (with 10-bit, but poor video dynamic range), lots of controls for video and photos etc.

Therefore, they should be priced similarly, too. And have similar pricing after 3-6 months of launch, as well.

Sad that I got the RoG Phone II just after my Nokia 8 bit the dust. If my old flagship didn't bite the dust and waited much longer, I would've grabbed this phone despite of Sony pulling out Philippines. I'll just wait for the Xperia 1 III for hopefully a Quad/Nona Bayer main sensor and still has the headphone jack with a better DAC applied.

Popop971, 24 Feb 2020Late spring means june .... at best .... Why Sony always do... more1) be sure the production of this phone did not start yet. They do this because they do not want photos and specs all over internet 4 months before event like done to Samsung and Google.

                    2) Corona virus is delaying lots of supply chains. Looks like an employee at Samsung factory in South Korea is sick for example. Sony is facing issues in getting components for their Alpha cameras and lenses.

Popop971, 24 Feb 2020Late spring means june .... at best .... Why Sony always do... moreThat’s Sony for you. Same old business decisions, yet they wonder why they are losing.

Worse, this is announced after the Samsung Galaxy S20 train. Nobody would be bothered with Sony.

S20U's one... moreThis phone is not Ultra competitor and that will be reflected in it's price, it's S20+ competitor. And just like you I've seen the S20 Ultra sample photos and they are not that much better than S10 from last year. At sunlight they give more detail but at low light focus is garbage, there is a lot of blooming, noise and smudging at the edges especially with ultra wide. As a matter of fact low light images do give more sharpness but the overall image is really not that outstanding like marketing department in Samsung wants you to belive.

I had S20U in hands and its camera setup gives superb image clarity and quality WAY better than akready good S10+. There is no way that with such ordinary camera setup Xperia I Mark II can come even close to S20U fantastic image quality.

                                        Only L series has 60Hz.
Sony told Android Authority in 2018 they use 120 but allow only 60 because battery.
