There’s no doubt Huawei has the best technology. This is the very reason US wants to kill Huawei. Otherwise Apple and Cisco will not survive. Shameless tRump.

Wow? P40+ still to come? With even more monster of monster camera set ups. And pushing the scores up even higher than this??? Wow?! Huawei have only just started... And way up there already. P40 definatleybworth buying. No need to worry about Google. HMS and open market is actually better and true Android spirit. Instead of core monopoly.

It is the lens doing the macro, the zoom the wide ,etc not the sensor.
I've shot macro on full frame before with a prime 105mm and it was amazing how close you can get...sensor isn't what determines if it can do macro, zoom, wide, superwide, etc

It's just so hard for to me to pick a really good phone that does many things well, most importantly macro shots.
I think I should maybe wait for the Note 20+ then.

MrWhoosetheboss already demonstrated how Huawei P40 is way better! Even Danny winget got same results!! And almost every other reviewers found it to be superior
But MKBHD is basically such a Huawei hater he will never admit Huawei is better!

I think leaning towards warmer tones help with portrait shots but not much for landscapes. Many of early photo samples look off and particularly blue in the sky looks desaturated, honestly my P30 would be better at capturing more natural colour tones during the day.
Hopefully this is something software updates can deal with, because right now it definitely feels like they haven't managed to fully utilise the new AWB system.

Nick Tagataka, 31 Mar 2020Maybe DxOMark is waiting for the software patch for the AF ... moreI don't think that's the case. The Update has been released almost 10 days ago and fixed the AF. It's almost as fast as Dual Pixel AF. Can't say Dual pixel AF is faster as I didn't see side by side comparison. Both are pretty fast. It's only possible to tell while watching side by side comparison.

Emeline Shaw, 31 Mar 2020Oh okay, thanks for explaining this to me. I didn't know ab... morePhones with a larger sensor usually struggle more to lock focus on closer subjects. P40 Pro should be *decently* capable when it comes to macro due to its advanced focusing system, but for that purpose Note 10+ could be better choice (although for everything else its camera is kinda mediocre). You might want to consider getting SX730 HS if flexible zoom range and macro photography are really that important for you. Mind you, though, general image quality on zoom compact cameras with a 1/2.3" sensor is nowhere near as good as modern smartphones in auto.

SN: Looks like Huawei has left the cooler tone side and Joined the warmer tone family. Huawei's sample images and Emeline's reference site suggest that. What do you think on that ?
