Huawei P40 Pro's rear and front cameras post the high scores in DxOMark's tests

The cameras aced both the photo and video tests, making the P40 Pro the undisputed camera champ.

    Anyway It's not Huawei's fault the the macro shots are better on Note 10 plus.
    I think Macro shots are not good if taken by a bigger sensor. S20 ultra has the same issue.

      So it would be better for me to just get the Note10+ if I want to do macro-photography with my phone? Or would it be better for me to purchase the Canon PowerShot SX730 HS? It has a 20 mp sensor and can zoom pretty wide.

        Although the cameras on the P40 Pro is great & all, I don't think it's result from the primary sensor is all that better than Mate 30 Pro, even though that phone had a smaller 1/1.7" sensor. I was expecting massive difference from a large 1/1.28" sensor...

        Still, I appreciate the larger sensor nonetheless. There's plenty of potential in this sensor, and software updates should enhance the results over time.

The article can't be used to determine the detail level of photos anyway because it doesn't even show samples in full resolution.

              It's only held back by Xiaomi's image processing.

                Woo, woo, woo, this phone was launched last week, a review already, Samsung s20 series over a month, yet no review, and I thought dxo offices were closed

                    It was a written danish review where he took some close up photos of a plant and the Note10+ was superior. I have put the link here for you to see. It's in danish but you can still scroll down and see the photos. He compares the P40 Pro to P30 Pro and Note10+. See the first photo of the green plant - it looks much better and sharper on the Note10+ photo.

                    I will primarily be using my phone for macro shots so it's such a phone I will be looking for.

                      Things're going well until they said Huawei has the best video score.
                      Sometimes I seriously doubt about their scoring.

                        I see that they turned down sharpening and made further refinements in colour reproduction on this test firmware (which probably will be released soon). What truly caught me by surprise is how much better the dynamic range is compared to Mate 30 Pro - the fact that it manages to keep highlights better exposed than iPhone 11 Pro while maintaining the tons of details on a person's face in backlit scene in portrait mode really amazing to say the least. It's good that they finally listened to the complaints and addressed the issue.

                        I still can't get over the fact that they are wasting almost 25% of the sensor area by cropping in regular shooting mode, though. I don't give a crap about their reasoning behind it (most likely they didn't have an enough time to design a good lens), they'd better stop doing that on Mate 40 Pro.

                                    Anonymous, 31 Mar 2020Huawei fanboys what do you normally say?? Samsung pays D... more? I've seen tens times more comments saying that Huawei is paying DxOMark than those that claim Apple and Samsung are. Who are you fighting against?

                                      Judging by Dxo's samples it's expected result for the new Huawei flagship..but have to say I'm impressed with Mi10 Pro...In almost all scenarios it's better than Oppo and way better than11 Pro max... photos-wise, wasn't interested in videos...
