Flashback: HTC One was a rebel with a unique camera and great speakers

05 April 2020
Remember the UltraPixel camera? It had only 4MP resolution, but those pixels were 2.0µm in size, much larger than the competition.

Wife got this in 2013, but she dropped it in the toilet in 2015. Loved this phone, perfect size for her that is why I bought the HTC One Mini 2 for her after that. But the Mini 2 just stopped working for no reason at all. No water damage, not dropped just stopped turning on.

I loved my One X!! What could I get that would be comparable or superior to the One X I miss that phone so much!! I have a crappy Samsung j7 or something unhappy I will take any suggestions thank you

Bane K., 06 Apr 2020You mean purple camera phone with blown speakers?Nah, man, that was the HTC 8X.

I'd have the HTC One today if it was capable of supporting WM10. The aluminum unibody construction was uber-sleek, the front-facing speakers filled the room, and phone just felt damn good in your hand.

Usage2Pro, 06 Apr 2020HTC is the company all configuration wrongly company . i th... moreNew CEO so let's see what he'll bring to the table. While I wouldn't mind a speced-out U13+, I would not mind a reissue of the One M8 and One Max; even with Snapdragon 765G, I'd get the Max in a heartbeat; even if it kept the 16:9 ratio with 2K90Hz panel, front-firing speakers, all-metal build (even if it means relinquishing wireless charging), headphone jack with powerful DAC, and expandable memory.

My first flagship was HTC. The A9 rocked with as our company phones for 4 years. HTC One could have evolved into really something classical
I wish the metal backs would make some sort of a comeback or a stainless steel outer frame

I had a One M7 and it remains one of my favorite phones. If they released the basic design again with more modern internals and reduced bezels I would give it a serious look. For the era, the Android skin was fantastic as well - attractive, functional, and lightweight.

HTC is the company all configuration wrongly company . i think their director is similar like Nokia , willing hear good word from those con man only. always low spec , low battery , high price .

Cabers was terrible. The phone took ages to charge. And Spotify jumped every time the phone found a WiFi spot. Fortunately I got it exchanged in the cooling off period.

                  Shame as it looked great.

And the Toyota example? Japanese car and motorbike industry growned up thanks copying european and american manufactures. Inovations started later. So, without it, there would be no Supra to kick Z4 which even didnt exist in times of older Supras (nevermind which generation you mean).

Nice article GSMArena.com. a good read. dis my first ever true Android flagship. Still missing a great phone like this... that supreme build and look, the amazing speakers, that clean interface, even camera and blink-feed too...none of the other phones could give me the same experience like this HTC One did yet.
HTC do give us a phone like this. You have a customer again.

A OnePlus 6T user for now, looking for a right replacement.

Good old times when phones were exciting and all were different looking instead of being a cheap copy of a overpriced device.
In 2005 I've bought Nokia 8600 for £1000 and I've spent this money so I could have something unique.
Now you spend £1400 for a device that looks the same as device for 100.
This is your globalisation and capitalism.
There isn't any soul left in manufacturing, now it's quantity over quality.
Back in a day it was about my product, my patent, my statement.
Now toyota supra is a bmw z4 and apple "reinventing" everything around.
Back in a day supra would leave z4 in a plume of smoke, now they are identical?!?!?!
So to all young ones reading this I can say that you have missed a lot!

The best mobile maker company in the world. Blinkfeed feature was the best and of course the overall build quality still I consider the best. Bring back those mobiles and I will buy.

HTC used to be my favorite Android phone maker. If they release a phone as good as the ones they did in the past I’ll get it in a heartbeat.

I wish for HTC to go back to htc one x or htc one niveau. They are right now just struggling with the same old: creating phones that work and look alike any other. Right now it doesn't matter if you buy a Samsung, XIaomi, Huawei, Oppo, Oneplus, Realme, Vivo, ZTE,...they are all alike! Only Sony, Motorola and Apple seem to have, let's say, a different approach. Sonys and Moto phones always felt different to use, don't ask me why, they are still just producing android phone, but yetthey stand out as the "weird ones". Motorola gives up on this approach with the edge. Sony struggles since the XZ3, which wanted to be like any other smartphone. Where are the mod-phones, where is the compact series with sticky edges? Where are the foldables, flickables, turnables, innovative cameras, innovative buttons (HTC invented dual cameras and the squeeze, right?)...sad

The most annoying thing about this phone is the power button on the top of the phone, not only is it hard to press because it barely appears, the feedback when you press is shit, but the placement is awful.

HTC one m7 was the phone which changed the entire android landscape for good; all metal build, stereo speakers, bloatware free UI with no ugly copycat ios look which many China oems still like to do & one of the best 1080p screens.

I hope HTC will get back to making premium flagships. The U12+ was almost there if it weren't for the stupid capacitive buttons.

I miss my HTC One M7 and M8. These were 2 of the greatest phones in smartphone history.
I doubt HTC can bounce back and it will all remain just a memory :(
