Flashback: HTC One was a rebel with a unique camera and great speakers

05 April 2020
Remember the UltraPixel camera? It had only 4MP resolution, but those pixels were 2.0µm in size, much larger than the competition.

One of the best phones I have.
I am still using my HTC One M7 for audiobooks, ebooks, as a mediaplayer, GPS, remote contol abd also as secondary battery.
It is from 2013 - no need to put the phine iin a case - so I enjoy the aluminium bidy every time I take it.

one m7, m8, m9 & htc 10 were a decent phones but htc really messed up internally... it hard to changed battery or screen in phones.. they sandwich the board to the battery... must take out the board first before you can change anything... and one of source why this phone easily heated up... beauty on the outside dont mean beauty on the inside.. lol

I had one of those... it was amazing phone. Great !!!
      The best smartphone !!!

Dometalican, 05 Apr 2020HTC One M8 Harman/Kardon edition (Sprint exclusive) was my ... moreNot sure if they will go back to flagship again (name would probably be u20 because there is u19e midrange from last year).
I think they will invest on 5G midranges. With SD765 and few mediatek chips.

            Come back HTC...we miss you.

Htc One M7 & M8 were both amazing phones.

Beautiful builds. Front stereo speakers. High quality screens. Best audio performance (headphones). Clean software.

Even camera quality was good, even though it had less resolved detail due to low resolution.

Also, M8 was the first phone to feature portrait mode. Something that's considered essential nowadays.

I would love to see HTC make a proper comeback.

HTC One M8 Harman/Kardon edition (Sprint exclusive) was my first venture into a flagship phone and I miss every second of it (screen broke after a drop into rocks). The metal unibody was premium-felt, the front-facing stereo speakers were fantastic (and why I don't fully accept the bottom-of-the-phone version), and had all the other hardware cues that made the phone enjoyable.

While I believe their target is going to be an HTC U13+ that's a solid successor to the U12+ with OLED, bigger battery, and probably the quad-fecta of camera setups (48-64MP primary, 16MP Telephoto, 13-20MP wide angle, and TOF sensor), it would be nice to have a reissue of the M8 and One Max with updated specs; 16:9 ratio, front-firing speakers, aluminum uni-body, and even UltraPixels (with current tech, imagine a 20MP quad [selfie included] UltraPixel setup...that sucker would end the night view camera debate in one swing) still kept since NO other phones have all this (Nubia at least having the unibody part). Even if they had SnapDragon 765G for the sake of making it cheap, I'd buy it and my wife would love the compact reissue.

In this year of absolute disappoinment and price gouging, HTC's best shot of a comeback is now.

I still have this phone lying around! I use it as a home phone, always plugged in as the battery is weak. The camera is also fried as there was one cyanogen update that overheated the phone and fried the camera (a common problem with that one particular update). Anyways still one of my favorite and most memorable phones.

Call me crazy but I think they should come back to this design. In this era of glass sandwiches, they could be something different.

the best smartphone for me. he is irreplaceable

HTC's Swansong. Both their best and truly last relevant phone before falling into obscurity. The One series (M7, M8 etc.) Was a timeless design that still puts modern phone aesthetics to shame. That metal unibody and dual speaker setup was perfection.

Now HTC can join Nokia, Motorola, Sony, Ericsson, Alcatel, Siemens, BlackBerry, ZTE, Lenovo, Essential, Google, Microsoft and LG on the list of companies which fall under the "others" category in every relevant graph or metric pertaining to current smartphones. Companies which glory days have come and gone.

I had this phone and was first phone with perfect call quality had quality ear speaker and high quality mic.. ! but when I looked at it now the screen is disaster so thick black borders.. eeeww
If HTC would revamp it make it nice flat and rectangular-y with minimal screen bezel with stereo speakers it would be amazing ! with 6.5 or 7'' ich screen would buy it !

Oh how the mighty have fallen.

                                Sad times :(

i remember, i almost bought this phone, i didn't really give a damn bout the 4MP camera, cause i had DSLR if i need a quality photos.
but the non-removable battery was a deal breaker back then. i ended up buying Galaxy Note II, and i became a Note fans till now.
