Apple remind me of spoilt rich kids being fairly beaten in the playground then flaunting money to humiliate their competition. It's not surprising that most cometitors want them dead.
Most of their patents are for the handset (which I despise, I quite like their Macbook range) so that noone else can do anything even remotely similar. They're single-handedly killing off fair competition which is just not Cricket.

[deleted post]So your Chinese-made Apple computer is somehow more worthy of praise than a Korean-made Samsung computer?

Hmm lol, 16 May 2012Dont believe me ? Just google " patent #5,946,647 &quo... moreIt isn't so much the fault of the patent office, but rather the interpretation of the patents by the trade commission and the judge ruling on the case. I'd assume each of the patents granted is subtly different enough to qualify for a separate patent which is why differing companies apparently hold patents for what is effectively the same process.
There is no doubt in my mind that American courts and judges are more likely to find in favour of American companies (ie Apple) over foreign ones (Samsung or HTC) where the domestic market is concerned. I'm pretty sure Samsung or HTC would get the same result in Korea.
What's interesting here is that it's only 'a potential infringement' of Apple's patent, which means that Apple have managed to get the shipment stopped on the strength of an allegation only, without any physical proof.
What's also intersting is idea that US courts and consumers seem to see the Chinese-made Apple range (made largely from Korean parts) as more American than the Chinese-made Samsung range, which is made from some of the same parts by the same manufacturers. Presumably on the basis that Apple have a headquarters in the US and have mainly Western execs?

But wait there's more..as anyoen can see in the link below, Sonny and IBM both filled and received the patent before Apple. Sony and IBM files in 1988 and 1989 and apple files in 1991. Sony and IBM receive the patent in 1992, apple received in 1993. AND TILL Apple is listed as "Original Assignee". WTF ? How can that be ? When Sony and IBM receive it oen year before apple ? Looks like money will buy the whole patent office.

Dont believe me ? Just google " patent #5,946,647 " And yo uwill find that this patent is actually isues to Sony in 1992 and to IMB in 1993 and then in 1994 to apple and then after that to a whoel bunch of other companies. And then this patent also is mentioned , which means parts of it are replicated in other patent, in a whoel series of other patents by various companies. SO wtf is the patent office doing by giving patents out like free advice ?

Somethhing fishy is going on at the patent office. I mean how can a company be given a patent for somethign that's alreay patented by some other company ? Or for somethign thats already public knowledge ? Isn't one of the excluding rules for patenting that says: you cant patent somethign that is proven to be known by the public at the time of patent request ? So how cna apple patent such crap thats been in use sine the phone industry started ? Like scrooling menu list, and all sorts of minor technicalities which are in use in nokia phones since the 90s.
