Nick Tagataka, 16 Apr 2020Why don't you compare your 4K display to Samsung-made one t... morehttps://www.androidauthority.com/sony-xperia-120-hz-display-mode-853299/amp/

Sony phones from 4 years ago already had 120Hz displays, but were disabled because of battery and performance concerns. XZ2 Premium even goes further with a 144Hz one.
Xperia 5 with gaming enhancement feature enables the 120Hz feature, and it shows with a very smooth gameplay according to Flashing Droid in YouTube.
So before you talk about those 120Hz and all that stuff, you should've known who's first at using them.
SD865 doesn't support 4K 120Hz in 21:9, hence the limitation to 90Hz only, but Sony has been known for great motion smoothing, as seen on their Bravia TVs in the form of MotionFlow.
800 nits peak brightness? Dude, most modern flagship phones with OLED screens are more than capable of reaching that luminance. I'm even quite suspicious as to it being limited to a small part of the screen only, because in any case, even the Xperia XZ3 can do it if we're going to limit it at 50% surface area. Main point is, as long as the screens are visible enough in broad daylight, there should be nothing to worry about.
True 10-bit is bogus at best. Considering it is made by Samsung, who themselves aren't even using true 10-bit panels for their own smartphones, surely it is just another 8+2 software smoothing algorithm as every other smartphone.
We all know how good these Chinese companies are at false advertising. Remember OnePlus's 3x Optical Zoom, that turns out to be just 2.3x? I don't think anything would change from them, especially not at this point that they've entered the flagship territory.
One of the best calibration for sure, but even Sony can do that. No need to brag about something that's already present in others that they've been doing since last year.
Yeah sure it is fantastic with green tint. Some users even said it is not only limited to Exynos versions, as there are also some Snapdragon variants that are experiencing the same problem.
No, this is clearly a hardware problem, otherwise the tint would be uniform and not only on one side of the display.

Nick Tagataka, 16 Apr 2020That test proved Sony's display tuning pleased average cons... moreThe Xperia 5's panel was one of the most color accurate when reviewed in this page, with an average DeltaE of 1.9 in Creator Mode. And somehow, GSMArena admitted that they still haven't managed to achieve the best possible color reproduction on the phone, which means some tweaking can make it even better. And to note, that's not even Sony's best phone yet. The Xperia 1 surely got updated already to match the stellar performance of its little sibling. After all, it is the highest end from Sony last year.
One thing's for sure is, no Sony OLED phone has ever had this green tint or red tint issue right from the start.
Not only is it bad that you can't have 120Hz in QHD+, but the fact that it costs $1300 and got plagued by these horrible hardware problems makes it no better than even the Google Pixel 4/4 XL.
Now I'll be waiting for you to defend this overpriced and rushed product from Samsung, but don't come to expect me to listen, because I can't even see a good reason to look forward for this thing. In fact, I can't even believe Samsung managed to make another damn mistake like this despite their fine products for the last 3 years since the Note 7.

Nick Tagataka, 16 Apr 2020Why don't you compare your 4K display to Samsung-made one t... more1. 120 Hz has Nothing to do with displaying true Colours :)
2. 4K HDR on other Hand is always a good bet for better watching experience than QHD
3. Also Sony is the only mobile to cover most of BT.2020 as well as 100% DCI-P3
4. Please check a Video on YT with the title " Display comparison of Xperia 1 vs OP7 Pro".
you will realize how bad the other Displays are :) especially while watching movies.
5. Unless you are Looking at your mobile under sunny Sun, that Peak brightness of 800 nits is not a big deal :)
PS: Everybody knows Samsung produces oversaturated Colours (how can u call it displays true Colours lmao)

S20 Ultra:
Ultra dissapointment smartphone in Samsung history. Too much buggy both on software & hardware level, with an Ultra price.
If one into Samsung, S20+ is the best bet.

Shanti Dope, 16 Apr 2020And people still say Samsung has the best display in a smar... moreWhy don't you compare your 4K display to Samsung-made one that Oppo and OnePlus use instead? 120Hz in QHD resolution, 800 nits peak brightness, true 10bit colour, HDR support, auto refresh rate switch, hardware-accelerated frame interpolation in supported apps and easily one of the best colour calibration among any phone displays. S20 series may have a poorer implementation of the same panel than OnePlus 8 and Find X2 Pro but the display quality itself is legit and it performs great when companies fully utilise its potential.
Keep it in mind that this is more likely a software related issue rather than a fundamental hardware defect, too.

I still remember when the average consumers chose the XZ3's display as the best screen on a smartphone in a blind test that includes Samsung's best screen smartphone at their time.

Simply speaking, they do not have a proper unit testing, prior to release any new update. They just checking only the identified scope but never test for other aspects. Samsung really need to enhance their regression test prior to release any update.

Well I don't know if it's still the same and source the panels from LG/Samsung or another company for their mobile panels.
Sharp if I'm not mistaken, has announced OLED panels with IGZO-TFT backplane!

Expect resolution the s20 ultra's display is all the way better.. Even what would you see the difference in a tiny display in 4k?
