Hirushaidirisinghe, 23 Apr 2020This is the best smartphone joke of the year 2020 1820mA... moreYeah man. The only thing wrong about this phone is its screen and battery. If they would've fixed this two components, easilly one of the best $400 midrange device for 2020.

This phone is clearly not for spec heads but inferior specs aside, I don't think this phone is even good enough for "people who don't care about specs and updates their phones every 3-5 years". Everybody cares about the battery and a normal user would definitely feel the phone tanking after a year. Battery degradation of an 1821 mah capacity battery means the percentage drop will be higher than a higher capacity battery over the same time period.

1820mA... moreAgree with most of your points except your opinion about bezels in general. Bezels are great for gaming phones. Maybe not that huge, but still better than none.
Also, in a smaller screen you have to do less thumb gymnastics to click on buttons.

This is the best smartphone joke of the year 2020
1820mAH battery 🔋
Single camera (i think it will not affect photo quality)
4.7 inch display
Fu***g big bezels
What a joke from apple?
You can buy a good midrange from samsung ,xiaomi or from any other brands.
So this is good for the people who want fu***g apple logo for status.but what a status in a smartphone like this.other iphone users who uses X and 11 series will laugh at you...
The only positive is the chipset i think. Undoubtedly it is good chipset.
Also who will buy a 4.7 inch phone with larger bezels. Cant even play games or watch movies. So no gameplay means no use of the better chipset...
Fu***g shitty phone of the year 2020

On the android side, even flagship phones dont get android version updates after two years. Apple will have no problems providing years of software support. Also this phone is targeted towards people who dont care about screen specs or big bezels. Also many people will buy it just because its an iPhone and they want to stay in the apple ecosystem.

I dont care about camera, notch, bezelless design, usb c or b, 3.5mm jack or not
But I care battery, gpu, cpu more than any element on the phone.
Sadly, Early reviews already confirmed that the battery will not be enough even for one day..
I can actually buy ipad mini 5 (A12) in this price range, or mi9t Pro as well

For the same price or less, you can actually get a vastly better midrange phone from Android manufacturers - one with better screen (no huge ugly bezels), better camera quality and set up (multi camera), better battery life, better audio experience (headphone jack with hi-res audio) and vastly better software experience (unlimited, android customization with no artificial restrictions imposed by some suffocating, jurassic walled garden).
Nobody should be wasting money on this phone unless all you want is bragging rights for that Apple logo. Seriously though, you won't be able to brag because you look like a trying hard social climber trying to keep up with other, more affluent Apple iPhone users.
Owners of top model iPhones will discriminate you. Worse, android users will mis-identify your iphone as an old jurassic iPhone 5s model.
The superior midrange offerings from the android camp - those from Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and yes, even Samsung (M series and A series) and even Pixel phones (Pixel 3a - if you don't care for a micro sd card), will be a vastly better buy and better experience literally. That bionic processor is like using a 10hp motor to drive an electric scooter running in a kiddie playground. It's worthless for everyday use and guess what? You'll actually be bothered VASTLY more by that ULTRA low battery life/capacity, HUGE UGLY bezels and mediocre screen and bothered by the limited, easily filled up non-expandable storage (you can't expand with 512GB micro sd card for $80) and lack of headphone jack for pleasant listening enjoyment that doesn't require daily airpods charging and annual $150+ airpods disposal, not to mention bluetooth exposure on your ears and brain several hours a day.

Prototype, 22 Apr 2020This phone will be bought because
- apple name
- 4 -5 ... moreTotally this, don't know why so many people couldn't see this.
Flagship processor and 4 years of software support is amazing for $400. I'm tired seeing people b*tching about the lack of updates on Android. Also, I'm tired seeing big *ss midrange phone with shitty camera, not everyone wants 6.5 inch phone seriously.

I think that the pricing is very bad for people living outside of the USA. If Apple would be a bit more reasonable with their pricing, perhaps they might have greater success worldwide. I don't know if they price phones higher simply because they can get away with it, or because they think that people have more money in other countries.
Then there's the app ecosystem…

JDK, 23 Apr 20201. Better Camera? There is no way that nubia ever has a bet... moreIt's a good debate, when you find yourself arguing for both sides. The cameras on those two penny ha'penny Chinese devices is what takes them out of any phone buying equation I run. They are all numbers and no substance. Huawei are possibly the exception. But they are the only ones that have a handle on the processing side.

They are the 2% that give a monkey's about the latest and greatest. For the rest of the world, it's newer, therefore better. If I was to go out on a limb, maybe 8% care about the latest and greatest. But for your average consumer, a blazing processor isn't in the buying equation.

Whackcar, 22 Apr 2020That 5 year of software support is only good for second-han... moreA lot of apple users keep their iphones for 3+ years. They then give them to family members or keep them as second phones. Long support means better resale value. It's a very positive thing.

Whackcar, 22 Apr 2020That 5 year of software support is only good for second-han... moreI'm one such person that got my iPhone 6 used, and it still works good. It's still getting security updates considering this phone is 6 years old. Although the new iPhone SE is very tempting I'm determined to keep my old one going until no more security updates are available. Expecting the new SE will get just as much long support from Apple.

Kriegsherr, 23 Apr 2020Yeah. True. But that is why the resell price of android dev... moreAndroid resell values are lower because there is no point in getting a second hand phone when you can pick up a new one at a price point you can afford. I'm not sure how many people will buy the new SE but if enough people do, that will affect the resell value of high end Apple phones.

Whackcar, 23 Apr 2020Buddy I'm not here to argue. You think the iPhone SE is the... moreIt's really strange how people can just ignore the small screen and battery and call it a great phone. It would be great, if released back in 2016-17. The only saving grace is the A13 chip, which seems to improve the iPhone 8 camera it's using.
There are plenty of better android phones at the same price point. Some people just think it's great that Apple is releasing a cheaper phone. People at TheVerge and MKBHD are such massive apple fanboys.
