Nokia Tabah da. I regret buying 6.1 plus, at 1st month charging jack started issue and for which nokia care insulted behaviour took me several months to repair.

Nokia 7.2 is basically a 7plus with some additional functionality but basically this show how durable the product is!! Kudos for 7 plus.

It is difficult to sell if you have nothing to sell. E.g. Nokia 8.3 delayed because of the movie. Terrible decision. It is a nice product could have sold itself with a little marketing and the movie giving some boost to it but now it will be an outdated product by the time it will debut. Bad decisions at Nokia...need to fire whoever is suggesting such things or they are just trying to cover the fact that the product is fake and not ready ( in that case the entire management needs to go)

Just fucos first on your 5g market nokia then just to smartphone after. Nokia is in lead to 5g market so focus first in there and save money for your smartphone department.

In the first year HMD tried to bring back the quintessential build quality & Finnish material first design approach Nokia was renowned for. And with the might of Foxconn manufacturing capability it built anything that HMD designed. The result was $800 grade premium built quality in a $250 Nokia 6. However on 1st year the phones did not sell well as the entire lineup was mated with weak processors than its competition. Nokia underestimated its competition and thought only design & built quality will be enough to sell the phones. It was not enough in 2017.
On its 2nd year HMD rectified this spec issue and on the end of 1st quarter 2018 to be precise the trio of Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus & Nokia 6.1 was launched. They had best of both worlds, unheard built quality & design of previous generation phones & powerful Qualcomm SoCs in their target price ranges. The per unit production cost with this level of quality & complex construction & top of the line processors soared to the sky and Foxconn still happily produced them. This was the reason why the prices of these phones was much higher than the competition.
And as expected after the launch of this trio in 2018, HMD naturally had the best sales figures hovering between 4.5 ~ 4.8 million per quarter for the rest of 2018. But their was also the cheap low quality build China specific phones like Nokia 5.1 Plus & 6.1 Plus that provided added sales boost during this time.
I picked a Nokia 6.1 (4/ 64 GB) at the right time at 88 euros in India. I also bought a Nokia 7 Plus when they were selling dirt cheap. Eventually this is when Foxconn pulled the plug and declared they will not manufacture for HMD any more. Or even if they does they will do selectively on the flagship models only where they can see good profit. Now HMD was at total loss as they have this huge task to seek out new channel partners & manufactures who will built their phones. Hence so few new models released on their 3rd year of existence.
Nokia did eventually came back to profitability last year by:
1) Making less phones
2) Targeting markets where there is less competition so they can keep the initial price pretty high and make good revenue on the 1st quarter of release.
3) Launch phones much later in the year where cut throat competition exists like markets of China & India.
4) Letting go of the premium quality construction which Nokia was renounced for in their low to mid range phones. Just look at the Foxconn built premium billeted aluminium body of Nokia 6.1 that took 55 minutes to machine from a solid metal block and then followed by 7 hours of two tone anodization process to that of current plastic bodied Nokia 7.2.

Because Nokia 7 Plus is a material first led design. A pure Nokia. It's body is carved out for a single block of 6000 series aluminum and six layers of ceramic feel like paint is applied to it which gives a unique look & feel in the palm while holding the device. Then a cutter is used to shave the paint on four sides by 2.75 mm to again expose the bare metal. Consecutive two layers of anodization process is then performed which gives the bare sides a unique copper like finish.
An internal die cast metal mid-frame is then screwed internally to the metal body which reinforces the core of the device. No less than 19 screws locks the internal metal plate to this unibody gives the Nokia 7 Plus it ultimate structural integrity & durability. This is an approach to enginereing that is build to last. It is this strength from inside which I believe inspires the beauty on the outside.
This phone is a testiment of Nokia true craftmanship & unique material design. No wonder it won prestigious design awards like EISA, 2018 Best Consumer Smartphone. And also the most durable phone of the year award in 2018 from JerryRigsEverything.
X71 cannot even stand in front of 7 Plus in these aspects. Specs are a different aspect and we can argue Nokia 7 Plus have bigger battery while X71 have bigger screen. But a Nokia should first be known by their Finnish roots i.e material first led design.

Nokia does not present ANYTHING original, all are boring designs that do not contribute anything to the Android market and with obsolete hardware.

Well... I do like HMD devices. But lack of exposure to the market (only few people interested even if it carry Nokia brand) makes them limit of any devices they sell to our market. No mid- ranger refresh when we need it is one of indicator (6.2 was not released to refresh 6.1 Plus) that public reception are so poor that even their 6.1 Plus isn't sold out entirely. And the one just entered TKDN certification is, Nokia 5.3. The one that lack gyro and compass. Sadly, I have to move on to other brand next time I need to replace my phone.

All those were great & now 7.1 & 8.1 still available to purchase at half rates officially. Only thing is the .2 versions of those 6 & 7 are not that great upgrade.

HMD openly stated they made a mistake in the naming scheme of their models by introducing Plus variants during 2018, their 2nd year of existence. It overly complicated their lineup and people got confused. So from 2019 their Plus models went one rank higher. This also applied to other models from Nokia 6, 7 & 8 series.
8 series became 9 series
7 Plus series got one rank higher to 8 series
6 series became 7 series
It is easy to identify this shift if you take a closer look at their Zeiss branding in Nokia phones.
8 & 9 always had Zeiss branded optics
7 Plus had Zeiss so new 8.1 also got it
Nokia 6.1 had Zeiss branding and thus the new 7.1 also had it.
Nokia 6.1 Plus & 5.1 Plus were China specific phones which got released on popular demand later and never followed their international naming scheme. Nokia never intended to release these two as they go against Nokia philosophy, a construction quality led design. They were only designed for spec first fierce Chinese market. India too.
Hence from 2019, Nokia 6.2 which was the actual successor Nokia 5.1 and all its below models never got Zeiss optics.

When Nokia returned I was just in the need of a new phone and I bought the Nokia 8 (which I'm still using to this very day). And although I really like the device for multiple reasons, it is not without issues. It has always lacked decent camera optimization, which HMD acknowledged and promised on numerous times to fix with updates. They continued to promise it until demand to do that died out. So is the case with many other features over the years.
The device also has occasional software issues.
And then last year they announced not to further support the device with Android updates as opposed to their initial three year long support promise. Yeah I know, they still provide security updates but that's bullshit, not what they promised.
To make it worse, Nokia 8 has no successors in their lineup. (Only Sirocco, but come on) the other "8" branded devices are nowhere near the specification level of this device.
I have been brand loyal for quite a long time, but my fellowship with Nokia ends when I'm treated like shit. I voted confidence to HMD when they brought back Nokia. I bought their flagship device and then I was casted away.

These figures might reflect that the people that bought the Nokia 8 and 6 haven't renewed their phones made by HMD/Nokia. Software bugs don't get fixed. Somehow the phones under perform when compared to the cameras and chipset. Android 10 has been poor on the Nokia 9 causing glitches that simply don't get fixed. They release too many phones that they don't support.
