Rameyuk, 19 May 2020"No higher refresh rate" If you want Higher Refresh Rate, ... moreagreed with the battery endurance... it also explains why an xperia lasts longer, i mean usable for more years than other manufacturers...
but most people are lazy to get the idea of that...
anyway they can always buy a new phone every year, yet they complain much of prices...
though i see nothing wrong for sony to released a flagship every year since it caters to different people... i mean, look at xperia 1 and xperia 1 II for instance, i think it is okay to sell both of them this year since some features are not shared in between... like superslowmo, wireless charging, audio jack... if i dont care about audio jack, then i can get the xperia 1... if superslowmo is not needed then i will be getting the xperia 1 II... or consider price cuts of the first one, though as an xperia user, price is the last consideration for me... as long as i get what i need...
perhaps that is the reason why i have not upgraded yet... since z5 premium still gives me what i need, along with miro, z1 compact and z3... and yes they are still usable up to now... problems? of course they do exists...
miro has defective slots since i accidentally got it wet, it is not ip certified, but i can still fit in enough music on the internal storage and i am not using it as a phone now...
z1 compact still works good, except for the battery which dies even before the day ends... but what year is it?... this is actually my main phone for personal contacts...
z3 still is capable... i am using it as a portable wifi hotspot in places without public wifi...
z5 premium is for media consumption and for work contact...
so summing it all up, i guess i saved a lot of money by not buying a phone as often as other people...

Rameyuk, 19 May 2020"No higher refresh rate" If you want Higher Refresh Rate, ... morewaah waah, I don't like these features, therefore they're a gimmick!

The mere fact that you associate higher refresh rate screens with "gaming" while there are hardly any games that can display over 60 fps at all shows that you have no idea what you're talking about.

By the way others have that periscope plus also a 3x, both.

Anonymous, 19 May 2020Many specs are not clear yet, just speculation. official sony playstation site

" As Mark discussed in his presentation, PS5’s ultra-high-speed SSD and integrated custom I/O system were developed with the goal of removing barriers to play – specifically loading screens. Developers are able to stream assets into PS5 games at an incredibly fast rate, so PS5 play experiences can be seamless and dynamic, with near-instantaneous fast travel through large game worlds. This enhanced speed will enable game developers to create larger, richer worlds without traditional limitations, such as load times, and also allows gamers to spend more time gaming than waiting.

We also wanted to introduce new capabilities with PS5’s custom GPU. Additional GPU power will allow for higher resolution in games, but a major new feature that benefits the visuals of games even further is ray tracing. Ray tracing simulates the way light moves in real life, and how it bounces off various surfaces. Games that take advantage of this feature will render objects much more accurately, and with heightened realism. Water, glass, light refraction, a character’s hair and so on, will look even more realistic.

PS5 will also allow games to offer a much deeper sense of immersion through 3D audio. Visuals are of course imperative to the gaming experience, but we believe audio plays a crucial role as well. We wanted to deliver a compelling audio experience for all users, not just those who own high-end speaker systems. So we designed and built a custom engine for 3D audio that is equipped with the power and efficiency for ideal audio rendering. With 3D audio on PS5, the sounds you hear while playing will offer a greater sense of presence and locality. You’ll be able to hear raindrops hitting different surfaces all around you, and you can hear and precisely locate where an enemy is lurking behind you.

Lastly, we’re excited to confirm that the backwards compatibility features are working well. We recently took a look at the top 100 PS4 titles as ranked by play time, and we’re expecting almost all of them to be playable at launch on PS5. With more than 4000 games published on PS4, we will continue the testing process and expand backwards compatibility coverage over time.

Make sure to keep an eye out for more PlayStation 5 updates down the road, and meanwhile, check out the chart below for the official list of PS5 specs.

AndroidMaster, 19 May 2020No higher refresh rate. No periscope lens. Small battery ... more"No higher refresh rate"
If you want Higher Refresh Rate, why are you looking at this phone? This is a premium phones targeted for suit-wearing professionals who don't play games. Even if they do, they play consoles or PCs. If you want higher refresh rate, get a gaming phone that's designed and can benefit from it.

              "No periscope lens"
I don't think the usability of periscope lens can be justified with the extra gimmick and sacrifices to the internal mechanics needed to make it work.

"Small battery with slower fast charging"
4000 mAh is more than enough. If you think this is small, you need to look to your phone on what's making it consume so much energy. Xperia phones are renowned for highly efficient energy consumption. Smaller battery but better consumption. In the end, smaller Xperia battery still outlast a bigger battery Chinese phones. Slower fast charging means it doesn't put too much strain on the battery capacity. The more current you push to charge the battery, the shorter its lifespan will get, which will reduce the maximum capacity even more. You don't need fast charging if your battery last the whole day. Use slow battery care charging that charges your phone for 8 hours when you sleep. That will prolong your battery life. Sony is well known for this.

"Above are just a few of the many compromises.
They'd be lucky to sell over 100k units
They only managed to ship 450k smartphones in the entire Q1"

True, but that's the truth about great quality phones. When you make a phone quality so good, there's less reason for you to buy/upgrade your phones in less than 3 years. With more people using their phones for longer, there's fewer people wanting to buy new phones. Which reflects a low number of phone units being sold. Compare this with Chinese phones, they make innovative and gimmicky phones that barely last a year, before you need to upgrade/buy new ones. And since they're cheap, more and more people can afford buying them very often. Which reflects higher number of sales. Huge sales doesn't mean it's a popular phone because they're good.

"Sony is in the same boat as HTC."
There are a few things that Sony should do to be fully profitable. One of them is to market their product accordingly, while keeping true to their ideals. This means they need official availability in many regions around the world. Revive their collaboration with the local network provider and retailers. But they shouldn't overproduce their phones just yet. Get a foothold at every country with just enough to make it accessible for us. But not too much that they waste production on units that doesn't sell.

They need to know their upgrade cycles. If they make great products that lasts for at least 3 years or more. Make an upgrade cycle that worth upgrading for users every 3 years. This means each year should just be a minor improvement from the previous year, yet good enough for the 3 year-old user to be worth upgrading. There's no need to capitalise too much on market where people upgrade their phones every year.

Anonymous, 19 May 2020The CPU does not allow 4K90 or 4K120. Screen is 120, but ... moreeven though the display is UHD, most of the time it still stick to full hd resolution to save battery. maybe at full hd they are capable of 120hz refresh, but with unlocking the bootloader.
previous models refresh rate can be overclocked.
