even if the phone was very very good (which i'd be surprised about), this is a high price and sony isn't the "market leader".
I'd be tempted at 700USD.. i mean i can get a note10 for that price today :/

Sony has some of the best engineers in the busniess.
They sell so many camera sensors, their DSLR's are some of (or simply) the best in the game.
They do have a global distribution chain and good relations with every major electronics reseller in the world (which is very rare). Only Samsung seems to be better in this respect, LG on the same level as Sony at best. Others are not even close.
They own the videogame market since 2013.
In the 80s and 90s Sony was THE Mercedes Benz for consumer electronics. Back when Mercedes build good cars :-D
IMHO they do not leverage on integration AT ALL!
A company that sells millions of TVs and other consumer electronics shoud never launch a single mobile device without an IR blaster.
A company with such an HiFi history should be the top brand for audio playback in the mobile market. A premium Headphone should ship with every device.
A company which is maybe the world's leading DSLR manufacturer shoud crush competition in mobile phtography. But I read (I belive last year) that the mobile andPhoto division will now work together to achive better results. I was stunned!
They used to own the game in so many fields. Technology, innovation, marketing, design, quality, the way consumers saw the brand. So sad to see the decay.

They don't test HDR video recording, they don't test RAW images, they don't test burst shooting, they don't test taking pictures of moving objects and a lot more. On top of it all they make overall rankings by not using all the phones at the same time, at the same setting and conditions which means absolutely nothing. And to top that off they refer to HDR process of image stacking and tone mapping as dynamic range which is super wrong.
My favorite example of how wrong they are is their usual scene of some outdoor hallway with a windows overlooking at some building. So whenever phone exposes the hallway but overexposes the building they call it low dynamic range that blows up highlights, but when phone underexposes the hallway and properly exposes the building they also call it low dynamic range that crushes the shadows. They super praised some Xiaomi phone that shot that scene by using aggressive image stacking which ended in the whole image evenly exposed with no contrast whatsoever as building with the sky looks like some amateur has phtotoshoped it in the hallway window. So yeah according to them that's a good photo :)

Sony Mobile maybe isn't doing well but that doesn't mean Xperia phones are bad. Not by a long shot. Xperia mark 2 has a few aces in it's hand. Like being the only phone with proper front facing speakers and a headphone jack.
The only phone in the world with a 4k screen etc.
It's just is unique and ahead, there is no denying that. Your comments doesn't contribute to anything.
So just stop embarrassing yourself.

Basically scoring the AI and how well it's optimized for the scene, Apple, Huawei and Samsung have way more developers for these tasks. Sony has said before they're not optimizing for the DXO Scoring.
I would generally go with GSMArena's static camera to see the camera performance as thats without the AI.

Mobile Sony Camera always show outstanding features and Sony sells mobile camera chips to other companies, but Sony mobile camera rarely get the top 5 on dxomark. Tell me why ?

People don't buy the first phone that comes out, they buy the one that suit their needs. For example, does it have a 3.5mm jack, no? then they'll skip the Samsung and Iphone.
As for the hype train, the general public do not care about the hype train. They'll get a new phone when their old phone doesn't work. They do not surf on internet browsing new phones unless they're in the market looking for one. Most reactions would be "Oh Samsung has a new phone, that's cool" but they'll probably won't get it cause their current phone still works.
