Do they have such huge lag time when they announce their bread and butter iPhone/Galaxy S and the ship date? No. You want people to be in the hype train while it's still hot and buy your phone right away, not waiting months after the hype is over (and worse, right when your competitors are releasing their newest hottest thing).
Sony is doomed for a reason, and it seems they never learned.

Release date or wait makes zero sense as it will always be something beside it. If it was released on March you would say oh S20 just got released, if it was released in April you would say new P40 just got released. There will be always some excuse why phone to you is not good enough compared to something.
Phone was released yesterday and it will get released in two weeks across the rest of the globe so where is Note 20 in all of this? Unless you think Note 20 would have next gen specs and that S20 and Xperia 1 II are both already outdated compared to Note 20 I don't see how that makes any difference.

By the time this phone is actually shipping, the news will already have Galaxy Note 20 and iPhone 12 on the headlines. Nobody will care about this phone.
Sony. Same old business, and yet they are wondering why they are dying.

If this phone would be 800, maximum 900$, it would be very nice but at 1200$, they will complain again about low sale and they should not wonder. Plus, their phones are slow to arrive in some parts of Europe and until they do, Xiaomi, Samsung, Oneplus and Apple already took the money.

Not a single US promotional blog including GSMArena has ever mentioned OP numbers, all you can find is an increase in percentages. They are still in the bottom half of single million digits annually. OnePlus is a brand created to have the sales outside China where Oppo and Vivo are holding their own. Western markets are very hard nut to crack once you go beyond affordable, Mi10 Pro will be perfect example of that. I suspect Mi 10 Pro sales in Europe are at statistical margin.

Exyvia, 23 May 2020Guessing they wanted to differentiate photo pro for the gen... moreI see what you mean, but Sony's decision doesn't sound really that logical to me considering that I hear nothing but praise from LG users for the fact that LG includes full manual controls and all the special features in the same camera app, just in different modes. Also, regardless of whether they want to keep the apps separate or not, convenient features that average users could also benefit from such as autofocus burst shooting should still be included in the default camera app's auto mode.

So like the normal camera app is for a quick photo where you can either let auto do the job or manual for some amount of tinkering.
Photo Pro will have much more control and all shown on the screen, taking their time framing and controlling the lighting. Yes, they probably could have done it within the same app, but there'll always be people complaining why it isn't a different app, as it differs quite a lot in look and feel from the original camera app - can't please everyone.

The netherlands based belsimpel.nl has removed the Xperia 1 II listing. The page now says "HTTP ERROR 500". Hope Sony makes the right decision on the pricing

I also found it quite disappointing when I realised that the 20fps burst mode is only available in Photography Pro app, as this makes impossible for average users to tell that such a feature exists in the first place and greatly hinders the user experience even if they get to know it.

It was also b... moreNot necessarily true, the speaker was worse on S7 and so was the fingerprint scanner which was surprisingly slow and inaccurate even for 2017 standard. SoC performance is also debatable since it had an edge in GPU but CPU was inferiour especially on SD variant at that time.

I myself read a ton of review, buy the device and if it does disappoint it goes back in the store via 14 days to return goods policy.
BTW: Considering your current device, that upgrade seems really reasonable.

I think the delay is more understandable when you consider that since February many countries were considering a lockdown. Uncertain times make for a scary environment to sell luxury devices. Besides, if it's great, it's great. I hope Sony do well, but I don't like their phones.
