ARM's Cortex-A78 and Cortex-X1 will power the Androids of 2021

26 May 2020
Cortex-A78 brings a 20% performance boost or 50% higher efficiency, while the X1 is a super powerful core to rival the Apple A-series CPUs.

Alex 94, 27 May 2020Do u live on the same planet Earth like me? Sd 865 cost mor... moreNope. SD 865 costs 80USD and 855 costs 70USD. Check BOM cost analysis. And even than price difference doesn't come from CPU. CPU block is only a small part of whole SoC.

Anonymous, 27 May 2020And that link is only one scenario and still doesn't match ... moreThanks for answering, but that's one *controlled* scenario that is more valuable than those which are not, like some random "real-life" gaming comparisons on YouTube, for instance. And speaking of real-life comparison, many gaming-specific Android phones come with lower resolution FHD display with higher refresh rate panel which naturally boosts on-screen fps and pushes it beyond 60fps. I will chuck it out of our way because I'm solely talking about the raw GPU performance of each SoC.

Except brand loyalty and I guess length of support. But the support thing probably wasn't known or fully known at the time of the review. So that's pretty bias.
And the things those galaxies and other droids were capable of already not to mention with some of the amazing custom roms of the time just left that iphone 4 in another world behind.

Nick Tagataka, 27 May 2020I did put up a link to Anandtech and specifically told you ... moreAnd that link is only one scenario and still doesn't match up to real world results.
Go use a gramophone phone side by side or look up many comparisons.
Again. If you can't understand something so simple i can't help you.

Anonymous, 27 May 2020I'm not the jack a whisperer. If you can't understand that ... moreI did put up a link to Anandtech and specifically told you which part of the page you're supposed to read. As I already said, scroll down a bit until you reach the section on GFXBench offscreen graphics performance, and there you will see tables that show performance and power consumption from GPUs on each SoC. "A13 Cold" indicates the peak performance when iPhone is still running cold, whereas "A13 Warm" is for when the phone is warm and GPU is in a throttled state due to prolonged heavy workload (hence lower fps). You can then go ahead and see the performance and power consumption figures of A13 and SD865 side by side.
What I'm saying is if you actually think my understanding on this is wrong then point it out instead of namecalling me. You don't want to do that? Then that's fine, I'll simply stick with my own logic and this discussion is done.

Every year, in their reviews, the iPhones shortcomings were covered up while Samsung was scrutinized over useless things that it lacked and it's innovative features downplayed.

No wonder it's owner Anandlal went on to work for Apple.
