sa11oum, 23 Jun 2020Apple shifting its attention to customization and lower pri... moreOn the contrary, it means Apple is threatened. Phones have become commoditized. Apple's branding and 'prestigious' image alone is no longer selling as much as before. More and more people are realizing that while owning a 'luxiourious', iconic brand is certainly desirable, real world performance, flexibility and price/value proposition matters more than the brand. Off course, many in the Apple camp still value iconic status symbols above all. But it's changing and now Apple is no longer an exclusively 'flagship' only brand with only the best. It now offers mediocre iPhones (iPhone SE 2) for those who can't afford the high price tag but still want to showcase the Apple logo to their friends.

Wily2020, 23 Jun 2020"we'll see iphones/iOS with custom launchers eh? Launchers ... moreValid argument for you, but not for all iphone owners. It's what you like but not wahat 80% of people like - to be dictated its Apple's way or the highway. Apple's been listening to criticisms so it's opening up more customizations. But then again, if you've had a flagship android phone, it's not enough to convince 80% to shift to iOS, even with a 'cheap' iPhone SE 2.

Apple shifting its attention to customization and lower prices. Android is in serious trouble.

As you can expect, for special cases for special people like these, I'll certainly give you tit for tat.

Anonymous, 23 Jun 2020Finally, resizable widgets and a pseudo app drawer. Hurray... more"we'll see iphones/iOS with custom launchers eh? Launchers that can remove the dock entirely, change the number of dock icons or increase the no. of dock pages, resize all icons, change their appearance, add andcremove icon labels, overlap widgets and app shortcuts, adjust the grid margins, etc. etc."

As a graphic designer, we won't get those and there's good reason why not. Android is big mess with different Ui, different graphic elements, no unified experience etc. What you just said if Apple would do that it will break and ruin the whole iOS experience which Apple have been slowly and carefully building over 10 years. Everything is connected, apps and 3rd apps use same Ui graphics guides. iOS experience is very seamless and unified. It is because everything is connected. If you try 3rd app from AppStore you know right away how to use it because it feels like Apple made the app because it's made
            by using graphics guides.

If you want all that there's already option choose Android. Why would you want another Android?!?!?

IOS is popular because it's simple, clean and easy and effortless. If you want to tweak everything and don't care what Apple represent buy something else, it's really that simple.

Anonymous, 23 Jun 2020Finally, resizable widgets and a pseudo app drawer. Hurray... moreI have iPhone 11 Pro Max 512 & iPhone XS Max 512 GB, I can tell you that iOS is way behind Android in many such things. Even the performance real time is comparable slower than my old Mate 20 Pro. I like its display and its Camera. That’s it!

Beyond that it’s iMessage with the same Apple ID for more than one device, Dual SIM problems with my 11 Pro Max(Calls not connecting work Network),

              iPhones need serious overhaul.

Android moved away and far beyond widgets long back. iOS must try to provide aggregated app experience at device level, but presented innovatively as a seamless one is one thing but they need software and services experience beyond OS level

Anonymous, 23 Jun 2020WOW, big talk about freedom, diversity and humanity, yet u ... moreIt is a desperate time for the android kids, look at how the iPhone SE deals with the S20 Ultra:
                https://youtu.be/ly8yWrRXn8E

All that ram, all that cpu power and the s20 ultra loses so badly to a $399 iPhone :’D
This is why the android kids are always in iOS topics, they are desperately trying to make up for their poorly built OS that cannot even beat a cheap iPhone despite having 12GB RAM :’D

Indeed android is an incredible mess. That’s why google are working hard to migrate from it, it’s a poorly built mess of a OS with huge memory leaks, that’s why manufacturers like Samsung and lg are always needing to put more and more resources just to keep it running smoothly on their phones.

One simple Question for iOS? Can you move the Clock appears in the lock screen to a desired position?

Anonymous, 23 Jun 2020WOW, big talk about freedom, diversity and humanity, yet u ... moreCorrection, I belittle Apple's efforts to giving its hapless users half baked customization options, flexibility, and choice they deserve despite paying such a high priced phone. It's so agonizing for many of its users that they jailbreak their iPhones voiding their warranties. If belittling a greedy company for its overly restrictive approach and anti-competitive app store practices, equates to belittling people, then you're clearly the one with myopic view. Now that's a thing I do to people like you who do the same to android users rather than the android operating system.

I have never had an iPhone, but I must say that I'm a bit shocked that they didn't have picture-in-picture before. It's a very useful feature and I use it a lot, mostly during games, to watch TV.

Android is about customizations, freedom and diversity. Much like humanity itself, really. Who wants their phone to look exactly like a million others and jave absolutely zero hardware choice? It's like being forced to dress up in a certain rigid way in exactly identical fashion even when it's not needed at all. That's why android has 80% market share and why some Android phones cost more than iphones!

Android security vulnerabilities fetch more than iOS vulnerabilities. You know why? Because one malware/virus exploiting an iOS vulnerability exploits the entire Apple devices line up!

Android fragmentation is a weakness, but it's the same weakness that has FUELED android improvements, innovations and CHOICES, by leaps and bounds in much less time compared to iOS and Apple's prison devices. The synergy between various component/chipset/display manufacturers, phone manufacturers themselves and Google!

A long time android user probably won't move to ios and vice versa, as much as apple improving their OS with some features already in android, it wont provide the same experience. Its good news for existing ios users moreso.

Android in a pixel phone s actually missing a lot of features that Samsung,LG etc need to build themselves that’s why so many of the features these android boys mention run so differently device to device,it’s a pure mess

Competition borrowing and interpreting on ideas to improve their products is what helps drive that very competition. And are we gonna naive enough to believe for a second that all that borrowing has been one way??
