It’s clear all people want in android is cheap throwaway phones, and when they want a premium phone, premium tablet or premium PC they move to Apple.

It is also adorable that you need ALL the android manufacturers and ALL the windows manufacturers just for you to argue against just Apple on its own :’D

Thank you for proving just how big of a manufacturer on their own Apple is :D

Keep using all those cheap android and windows devices, we all know when you make enough money you’ll come to Apple anyway and stop posting so desperately in every Apple thread.

Cheers. ;)

Here's an idea stop belittling eachother for the type of phone and OS you are running, each has their own benefits and reason why people are more comfortable. its about your personal choice not which is better than the other.

Finally, resizable widgets and a pseudo app drawer. Hurray! iOS 14 now makes the latest Phones look a lot like my 2012 android jellybean phone.

Certainly, a step in the right direction for Apple, but frankly, its a step too little, too late. Apple should just have swallowed its pride and copied android customizations shamelessly rather than effect an agonizingly slow transition into a half baked iOS 14 with half baked customization options... Oh wait, there's still iOS 15, iOS 16, 17, 18 etc. Maybe in 2030, we'll see iphones/iOS with custom launchers eh? Launchers that can remove the dock entirely, change the number of dock icons or increase the no. of dock pages, resize all icons, change their appearance, add andcremove icon labels, overlap widgets and app shortcuts, adjust the grid margins, etc. etc., that android had since 2012 and the 2020 iOS 14 still doesn't have!

And oh, what about a scalable dpi Apple? When will you allow iPhone users to set a custom dpi so PLUS sized iphone owners get to have a tablet like interface like what is possible with android since Android Oreo? In 2030 perhaps? Oh well...

Android Master, 23 Jun 2020Most people don't want to spend above 200-300 dollars on a ... moreAndroid has 80% market share because it covers all price ranges.
People use Windows because it is easy to use and availability. Most developers lean towards some Linux distro and designers/creators towards Mac. Students have mostly shifted to ChromeOS.
It is interesting you would mention Windows and Android when iOS is more similar to Windows. Android is similar to Linux Distros where you have much more control over every hardware and software component. Windows added WSL recently to push for developers.
As far as "Hall of Fame OS" is considered Android also has its share of problems. From apps running rampant, memory leakages to battery drains.
Both iOS and Android started of at same time with different design philosophies. iOS restricted everything for consistency but then limited the functionality of the device. Android on the other hand kept an open system which resulted in lots of functionality at the expense of consistency and control.
There are a lots of other comments stating Android has widgets for years and iOS is just now getting them. They forget that iOS has been running apps in sandboxes since beginning of app store and Google added scoped storage in Android 11. Both are copying and both are moving towards each other. iOS by opening up storage access, UX changes. Android is doing by granular controls and scoped storage.
Apple is trying to open a closed system by design and Google is trying to close a open system by design.
I think future iterations of iOS and Android will look and behave exactly like each other.

Sure there are some useful little things in ios that are still not in android like proper pausing of app install and updates in play store like app store ( sure the update or installation may stop if yu are not connected to internet )

Plus last i rooted my phone was galaxy ace and since then i have used galaxy s5 then s7 then mi a2 and now op 7t and man i dont think i ever need to root again ...
The thing is ( my opinion ) that unrooted android offers more and better features and customizations as compared to jailbroken ios.... period

Sure i love my ipad air 3 i bought last year ( there is almost no game that lag on it on 60 fps and ultra max settings ) but still ios has a lot to catchup in terms of flexibility and features

Honestly apple worked so hard on ios 13 i knew ios 14 wont have many significant changes but thats fine by me

Anonymous, 23 Jun 2020Your beloved android doesn’t even works as it should just h... moreI agree with some of your points while others i don't agree.
Both iOS and Android copies from each other, that is nothing new, I don't have any issues with Google Apps on my phone, which is OP5T is running, but there could be other phones which are facing app crashes, so is iOS on older phones, There is no iOS for tablets, it is called iPad OS now, right now the leading tablet in the market is iPad, but people are going for convertible laptops, as you can do more work on a windows convertible than an iPad, iPad is only used for streaming and entertainment content mostly by people, hence the iPad sells are dropping, Android tablets are not good, you are right. I have been working on Android and iOS app development, you are wrong on aspect ratio issue, most apps works seamlessly on different aspect ratio, if the developer updates their app, there won't be issue with aspect ratio. I agree developing apps for iOS better because we as developers gets more profit compared to Android, but now we just use external libraries like React and Flutter to make for both platform easily, the app quality remains mostly the same, due to iOS restrictions, devs can't use everything to it's full potential, Android used to be slow in the past, but now they are way ahead of the curve, such as photography, people don't find Android phones to be slow these days, even a budget Android phone is fast enough for daily use, resale value, yes it is bad with Android only if you buy it on launch days, but resale value for budget Android phones are good, but not for flagship.
No issue with security patches, as latest android phone uses something called Project treble, any new software codes doesn't mess with hardware codes, Any smartphone can face screen burn in which uses AMOLED display, which means iPhone X, XS Pro or 11 Pro can have this issue, and the displays are mostly made by Samsung, My phone, which is 3 years old already, no issue. No overheating or lags on my phone, it is something every phone can face no matter what OS. The camera APIs are the same, gives the same freedom and customization to integrate with dev's apps, you only find bad camera on the apps like insta or snapchat is because us devs r lazy to optimise. Using OnePlus here, got no issues with bloatware, other companies gives bloatware because of their phone's low price, bloats helps them to make money, Xiaomi uses that tactic to sell hardware at cheap price. Android apps are not written in Java only, it can be written in lot of different codes, like Kotlin, Dart, Javascript, C++, depends on the developer on how they want to make it, iOS uses swift, a coding language with can coexist with Objective C, iOS apps aren't developed with C++ only, seems like you don't know how to code. Android won't be replaced by Fuchsia OS, but rather be integrated with Android maybe, depends on what Google does. Get your facts right next time mate...

Android is the OS of choice on smartphones and much superior to iOS as represented by the 80% marketshare just like Windows is the first choice of OS on PC platform.
