Anonymous, 07 Jul 2020problem is u lose water proofing and samsung did at least m... moreIf you mean that the phone is vulnerable to water, well, nope, the OnePlus 7(t) Pro is a great exemple of how a phone can survive accidental drop in water while having a pop up.
If you mean IP rating, well, IP rating is actually useless, expensive and doesn't guarantee you at all your phone will really survive drop in water, it is even a trap, no company cover water damage in their warranty, not only it tell you a lot about what IP rating is really worth, but also there are phones supposed to be IP rated that do die by falling into pools, meaning, as I said, it isn't a guarantee at all.
The problem is, you will think your phone can actually be used underwater without any issues while actually you have no guarantee your particular phone will survive, and if it doesn't, you risked everything and loose your phone.

Plus, the pop up can be made way better by switching to electromagnetic actuated vs motor actuated, in which case, the pop up itself can be sealed off of the smartphone and be totally waterproof (as opposed to water resistant).
My phone concept that I made to showcase this exact concept of electromagnetic pop up would never get water from its pop up as there isn't any opening.
You also have a way faster, tougher pop up with virtually no wear at all while taking less internal space and costing less :

What Samsung did isn't a proper pop up but a pop up/slider hybrid, and we need more than one, not just for the same of diversity, which is important, and to get rid of those damn holes and notches, but for privacy which is the most important thing everyone should care about when it come to their smartphone and is a critical issue nowadays that could lead to extremely nasty consequences for all of us.

Lol, You guys love complaining, don't you? Be happy some manufacturers actually still see a market for compact phones. Also, everyone gave Google a hard time for the design of the Pixel 4 and now you want that back? Come on ...
Just wait for the final release or some more leaks, as of now we still need more info to actually make a good prediction.

On topic: I somewhat like this approach of giving the same appearance for two different phones. Saves money and you can actually choose the phone based on specs alone instead of having to pay more for performance you don't need just to get the smaller phone.
Also, I don't at all mind a plastic back (if it is matte!), a well executed rear fingerprint reader is pretty nice (I don't like smudges on my screen just by unlocking it) and the punchhole display is (to me) far better than a notch or teardrop-notch.
Way to go Google, keep it up! Now just release the damn thing!

So they decided to bring the pixel 4a XL as the pixel 5. That's not the worst thing to do, though I love the dot matrix unlock and would have loved to see it implemented in the pixel 5. Yet Im a big fan of the 765 and the none notch or chin bezel design. I never understood the pixel 4 had a chin bigger than the side bezels while it had such a huge "forehead".

Peoples complain about it, but if Apple was the one who introduced it, everyone would make phone with them and peoples would like them.
Samsung don't have as much influence as Apple, though I believe the iPhone X notch is an answer to the S8 and S9 (closer to fulldisplay and face biometric), which was the only thing from the notch we should have copied, but brands copied the appearance of the notch and not its feature...

Pixel is dying if this shit continue.. their hardware lead and Pixel team is really terrible. it's like they don't know what they are doing nor do they understand the market needs and problems to fix.

It does this so seamlessly though. I love it.

When I upgraded my 3xl to 4xl, I was so amazed at the speed. My phone's always unlocked when I'm ready for it. In bed, in the sun.. with hats and glasses. But not a facemask as I just found out. It needs to sense your nose depth

I hope, just like the first renderer picture with triple camera in the top middle.
Please please, no punch hole, you destroy my appetite to buy pixel 5.

Im using pixel 3 and 2 XL and skipping 4 because didnt have FP, and funny style for camera placement.

Return fingerprint, no punchhole, increase battery,

They are written by peoples who often say stupid things, they all repeat the same thing, most probably never tried ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, it is EXACTLY what happened with the pop up where they said load of crap about it that we now know are totally false, yet some still insist on that.
The FIRST ultrasonic fingerprint scanner implemented by a SINGLE brand does NOT represent the technology of ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
Mainly when they probably base everything they know from reputation earned by the FIRST tests and are totally ignoring the updated software.
Optical underdisplay FPS also did underperform compared to capacitive ones, yet now they are really popular and work pretty well.

The new Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max (sadly in no smartphone yet) work way better but everyone insist on the first gen.
Also don't forget that brands blindly follow trend, even if the trend is to put a HOLE IN A DISPLAY (regardless that it have been years now, it still amaze me how stupid peoples are to accept such craziness) or to remove the port with the biggest amount of compatible audio and non audio device available for it...

I am totally not a Samsung fan, so yeah, exactly as the guys in those websites you seem to think that they know all about everything, you don't know what you are talking about, you are just repeating what you read and your opinion is biased by what we told you to like.
