So they put their game on someone's online store and agreed to play by the store's rules, then bypass the rules, then get mad when their fraudulent behavior is exposed and now they sue? You may disagree with the rules, but breaking them is no valid way to protest against them.
This is a shameful way to make more cash. They already made billions from this lame game, but it seems that for multi-billion corporations, playing by the rules is too expensive.

Yeap Fornite is removed from the Play store. We're half way through the month. 8 months into the year and this is probably the best news of 2020

A very important aspect of iPhone sales, initially used to be the app store. This means apple way back in 2007 launched a device with no video recording no mms and many such missing features only on the basis of an App store.
Then there used to be comparisons on number and quality of apps on iOS, Android, Blackberry, WP, PalmOS.
Eventually no one can deny that iPhone was a success partly due to App store as well. Now when it’s successful they should reduce their 30% margin. This won’t happen as they make billions from it though.

I feel Apple should lower their share from 20% to maybe 15% to make it seem reasonable for others to continue with their monopoly, since I remember even Spotify bringing up this issue in the past. It is not right to do this, especially when depending upon the appstore to have your services purchased. Android maybe a bit different considering you have the option to sideload, except you wouldn't be able to use Google Pay as a payment option since google signatures will be required.
As for Apple Store, I think they need to change their policies a bit, to support cloud gaming on iPhone. I mean technically, most games (like asphalt 9, mobile legends) run off a online server, doesn't mean they are stored on iPhone except for the game assets. In case of xCloud, it is just that everything is from the server, that's all. If there's gonna be an issue of apple not being able to monopolize on the in game credits or something, they can just force users to pay through Apple pay and have their percentage of share from that.
As it stands, I think some games already violate Apple store's code, like online claw games, where the game is not in your phone, but you are seeing a live stream of an existing claw machine, with the ability to control it from your phone. I don't see why it is not possible to have a service like xCloud, up and running.

Exyvia, 14 Aug 2020People need to stop comparing this to Google's Andriod... morePlease tell me how I can start selling my own skins in Fortnite, while paying Epic Games nothing. If Epic Games are the only ones allowed to sell anything in Fortnite because they developed it (their software = their rules), why it should be any different with Apple, who developed iOS (their software = their rules)?

I hate Apple and it's devices or services, but here, Epic is a greedy pig, I have to say. If it cannot comply with the store policies, then it had to get it's own OS, phones and store and try to be competitive, instead of wanting to grab a share on others hard work. Go get a life...Epic.

Not only the spec requirement in mobile is very high, but the fact that optimisation (especially for Android) is not there yet and cross-server gameplay means that Fortnite in mobile is nothing interesting. Yeah just a bait to Google and Apple.
Had if Epic cooperated with a legal online 3rd party game item purchase site like PUBG Mobile does, this would not have happened. Even if it indirectly violates both App Store policies.
(I might even suggest that either the site may be forced to close or block that game entirely after this incident 😃)

MrDong, 14 Aug 2020https://www.xda-developers.com/fortnite-circumvents-google-... moreSo they're back to square one and operating from their own appstore on Android, which wasn't a bad way to operate. I don't think they care. They make all their money off pc and consoles anyway. They just want to mess with Apple and Google.

I doubt epic games would win, they likely cancel their law suit or what lose mobile gaming revenues.

People need to stop comparing this to Google's Andriod. Andriod allows the users to side load apps, which works for both Epic and the end user.
The only way to get their game on an Iphone is through Apples App store which also has the same 30% cut, so there's no way to bypass the 'Apple Tax' hence anti competitor. (Unless you talk about jail breaking)

Google decided to remove Fortnite from the App Store (the whole app), just like Apple did. So in the end, Epic Games is the culprit. I just got an update from XDA. The game dissapeared from both app stores.

Kek, 13 Aug 2020As much as I dislike Apple and their walled garden practice... moreI tend to agree with you. It's Apple's appstore, they make the rules and developers who host their apps on the appstore should abide by them. On the other hand, you have anti-trust laws that prevent monopolies from abusing their market position. But Apple only has 40% market share in the States. So are they still a monopoly? Idk. I really would like to know more about their arguments.

kammem2, 13 Aug 2020I am with Apple and They should respect Apple store policy.... moreWhile Apple has always been non-competitive in terms of App Store policies, I have to agree with you on this one. Pretty sure Google will also do the same thing. I have not spotted anything like this in any Play Store games, including popular titles.
But legal 3rd party in-app purchase sites do exist for some games, and it works regardless you use an iPhone or Android.

Kek, 13 Aug 2020As much as I dislike Apple and their walled garden practice... moreBecause Apple makes their own apps providing same services as other but since they're taking 30% cut others must put much higher prices... So that's anti competitive behavior...
