T-Mobile's LG Velvet is powered by the brand new MediaTek Dimensity 1000C chipset

03 September 2020
The SoC got official today, and it's unclear why T-Mobile chose to forego the Snapdragon 765G.

Cool until I saw the price. Needless to say it’s overpriced asf

Ugh I was so excited when I read that it had the Dimensity 1000C, until I actually did a bit more research. I actually thought for a moment that LG had made a not insanely underpowered Velvet phone for the price. But no, the 1000C is an absolutely neutered version of the 1000+.

Edit: Wait a minute it's even weaker. Gsmarena is wrong. T-Mobile's website says "Processor
      MediaTek Dimensity 800"

T-Mobile's site says that the device is powered by the Dimensity 800, not a 'Dimensity 1000C'

That price ain't powered by the Dimensity 1000C though.

            Nick.B, 03 Sep 2020""The Dimensity 1000C has an octa-core CPU with f... moreThis is a heavily cutted Dimensity 1000+
Cortex A77 are only clocked to 2.0ghz when they are clocked to 2.6Ghz on 1000+
You only have 5 GPU cores instead 9 (cortex A57 and A77 are the same cores...under six cores it's G57, over it's G77)
But it's not that much important.

So it's mid-range level...Antutu scores should be around 400.000pts, I guess...maybe Dimensity 820 scores even better with the same G57mc5 and Cortex A76 clocked to 2.6ghz.

I like this 1000C very much, more than 820 which is Snapdragon 765G's killer, because 1000C :
            - is more than enough to sustain most games at maximum settings
            - limited clock speed will give awesome battery life
            - and AV1 support...even Snapdragon 865 isn't able to decode it.

Dimensity 1000 family is futureproof for streaming

A really strange move by LG to source a different chipset for this midranger. Only reason I can see is to cut cost as the Dimensity 1000C should be cheaper than Snapdragon 765G.

Would be great chipset if not garbage gpu

where does that put it against snapdragon? all that numbers does not say the bencharks story really
