Sony will show disappointing results yet again next year. All the fans are simply talk, plain and simple.

Anonymous, 27 Sep 2020Yes, a good functionality phone ; No, my taste is on Nokia side nice... i am on nokia side too and xperia side... but never had a full blown nokia android as the only nokia android i had was nokia x2 dual sim, not the feature phone... i also have nokia 909, n8, n9, n70, asha 202, and the olds 1600 and 1100... the closest experience to old nokia, imo is xperia... especially now that they also have the zeiss coating, the dedicated camera shutter button like i have on 909 and n8 are also on my xperias except miro... i was hyped before with 8 sirocco, then the 9 pureview... but i was too slow to import one, since those seemed to be low on production...
are you on nban (nothing but a nokia) fb group?

Unless optical zoom capabilities, Sony is far from good. Today, a overall good camera is a good smartphone

Shanti Dope, 27 Sep 2020Whatever it is, why should sales be a big deal to everyone?... moreSales = interest of the company to support the device.
It took sony two months! to fix proximity sensor issues.
You know on a phone ... that is used to make ... phone calls.

Batteries degrade no matter how slow/fast you charge, but having phone for an year is long enough and charging 20W or 120W is quite big of difference, even more when you need it.

Shanti Dope, 27 Sep 2020You don't want it? Then don't buy it. Besides, w... moreQi charger for non-Qi charging phone and headphones that are not made by Sony and are utter tosh - like on of the worst headphones ever made?
Not a good reason enough? I would much preffer to not bundle anything than this equivalent of this plastic waste.
Not to mention loot boxes for COD on mobile phones? Way to go!

What? Fortnite skins for Note series were not insulting enough?

Others are cheaper because of cheap labor but lower quality overall product. With the exception of the iPhone, of course. Nothing's more overpriced than that.

Samsung is more expensive but comes with green tint issues, and so does OnePlus and Oppo.
Xiaomi doesn't even compare to Sony in terms of essential features and hardware quality (FHD+ for a flagship vs 4K).
The rest is the same for the others, but for Sony, quality will always be top notch. Surely only Apple can compete to them, and that's for a much higher price.

Some people say they're still using their old Xperia Z from 2013, just as many do with their iPhone 3G. But same thing can't be said for a Galaxy S.

buying this after a year or two will make the price competitive (except for spec warriors always complaining of old soc)... the mark i of both 1 and 5 are now on 700usd from about 900usd last year...
or preorder it and enjoy the freebies as those are not depreciating as fast as smartphones do...
wished we have the same treatment in south east asia, but i ordered the 1 ii anyway...

18W is slow? Well, charging a 4000mAh battery should be quick enough for that charger. And faster charging means faster battery degradation. (I know. You'll neglect it again and again because of your ignorance to facts. You want that 200W charger right? Have fun with your 5000mAh battery for 1 month before it turns to 3000mAh ☺️).

Well in fact, I don't even know if there's one that exist at all, unlike 21:9, which is a proper cinema aspect ratio standardm

For gaming, with hq camera, jack and for less than 1II, no wonder.
Not for everyone though, 4K is not 8K, slow charging speed, or other next gen features missing, its mostly bringing what was here year before. Well, at least they got better than in the last year.

But yes, It became quite scrutinizing to get a desired Sony phone where I am too, quite rare on Xperia models through provider contracts now, mostly only cheaper midrangers. And only 3 resellers overall offering 1 mkII, unlocked, no offers through contracts, and that only in black.

So, I fear I might be not able to choose on the desired 5 mkII color option here.

Sony really needs to up their smartphone marketing campaigns back. Great models, with so few actual options to buy.

A great value mid range phone from Xiaomi or Realme alone can surpass the total sales of the whole S20 series, but does that make that mid range Xiaomi or Realme phone better than any of the premium 2020 Galaxy S flagships?

People buy Samsungs and Apples because of popularity, and mostly because they're heavily investing on marketing, unlike Sony. And that's even a brilliant thing to imagine, to think that they could still sell million units of their phones despite barely doing any marketing strategies in any region of the world.

Well anyway, when you can no longer find any fault to a product, you just attack and bash it on an irrelevant aspect of it. A very typical move of a desperate hater. ☺️

I can't remember if there was ever any Sony phone I would not think the price is too high. Maybe Cedar was rightly priced... But it was really long ago. Sony phones are great but too expensive for me.

There are other factors like local availability, personal preferences, or no requirement etc. I could be buying this but it isn't available in my region, and also when people buy only high end phones, they tend to keep it for a considerable time, and don't usually upgrade every year. As for me, I've bought two flagship phones in the last four years, and some mid range devices in between like I always do, so I'll not be getting a new phone until next year, and also never owned a Xiaomi phone, so your comment is false that people must be poor, to not buy this. As for Sony fans being 'just talk' or 'cheapskates', let me tell you I've also used Sony phones in the past, including Xperia Z, Z Ultra, T2 Ultra and the compact SP, and that's why I'm a fan

They can be sold out if they only put out small numbers. For all you know it's just the hardcore fans buying those few and subsequently no one will really buy it. It looks like a good phone but up until they've proven themselves to be more reliable then sales will pick up or they really need to throw a lot into marketing, create a false sense of premium then let it pick up from there.

lewein, 27 Sep 2020the question is, will anyone buy it?The real queastion should be what colour you are getting?

I kinda inclined towards the pink or dark blue colour.

geek-a-contra, 27 Sep 2020correct. simpletons do not know and / or do not understand ... moreIndeed, Sony has vast resources for R&D as well as some experimentation, to see if consumers accept some new design or not, but they don't really need to do it. Companies often do this, for example LG, they release a lot of phones with quite different designs such as LG G5 with its 'friends' accessories, G8 with the Dual Screen, or the Chocolate series (very tall design), Velvet and now the Wing, and now there's even some new upcoming design, although not all of them are well recieved. Even other manufacturers keep coming up with gimmick features that do get attention but all of that isn't really what people asked for, and almost every manufacturer doesn't pay attention to that part. As for Sony, they mostly stick to a single design, rarely change it, they never even accepted the notch, punch hole, or those fancy rear colour finishes (gradient) and yet their recent phones have caught a lot of attention and applause for the tech they pack, and the level of detail, for example, their phones still have that physical two stage camera shutter key that has been extinct long ago in other phones. They just figured out that people want no compromises on a flagship phone, it should have just everything and the best of it, the 1 II and the 5 II are perfect examples of that philosophy, and though they're criticised only for the high price but they're worth it when you compare it to flagship Samsung or Apple phones that still aren't complete in some way or just boring to look at. The Xperia is just everything in a small size and that won the fans this time around

lewein, 27 Sep 2020the question is, will anyone buy it?I would. In fact, I've already scrapped my plan of getting a OnePlus 8 Pro because of this particular Sony.
