salarx, 30 Sep 2020Yeah I also prefer a glass sandwich which cracks on drop.. ... moreYea I have this really strange habit of not dropping my phone that costs hundreds of dollars. I don't really do anything special, I don't use a case. It's like I'm just taking good care of it without dropping it, but I'm not 100% sure.

No mention of metal body. You cant have Qi charging with alluminum back.

I'd rather buy anytime xiaomi at half of price than pixel. Anyone of them.

Anonymous, 30 Sep 2020Back is glass. Metal would block qi charging and 5G signalIt doesn't appear to be a glass back, as from the pictures, it's one whole piece of some material, when you look closely, so the question still remains, how does the wireless charging work with that metal back ?

That 765G in the Pixel 5 is going to be the final nail in the coffin for the Pixel Line

Boring, outdated the moment it announced.

Pass... by the time it gets here UNOFFICIALLY to Malaysia, combo'ed with grey import markups, both are gonna be overpriced and still inferior to the likes of say an Asus ROG Phone 3 e.g. Not to mention the usual and again better specced Chinese OEMs' rival phones. Even that Redmi K30 Pro will fish slap both of this in 0.5 seconds flat.

Cameras? We're not all living from "oxygen through social media" tweens are we?

Like I've said before Google just has no clue about running a hardware/devices' business.

They brought a guy do make draw with pen ( everybody knows pen can do it since note 1)

Afte... moreHave to agree..the Pixel 4a and 4a 5G are great deals in a lot of regions because of the pricing (still won't sell as well in countries like India here, where we have import duties on top of everything), but they completely screwed up the Pixel 5 pricing! I know we are not getting the Pixel 5 or the 4a 5G here in India (just the 4a, even that's not on sale here yet), but it'll be interesting to see the quick price cuts and discounts on the Pixel 5 after a few months: it just isn't much of the difference over the Pixel 4a 5G to justify $200 more for those (for most people!)..most people will be better off saving the $200 and getting themselves a 4a 5G.
PS: The 4a 5G pricing is absolutely killer in my opinion, and will sell well hopefully!

And actually, there is a sizable band of people who actually prefer poly-carbonate over glass (I am one of those). The frame is debatable though.
I, for one, prefer the unibody poly-carbonate, just like the Pixel 4a. I wish they made it easily replaceable and with different colors (remember Nokia Lumia 820?). All they had to do was to mount the finger-print scanner on the board instead of the body.... Alas... consumer satisfaction is not on their mind once under the shell.

The pre... moreI have used a SD 765G device so I can say this to you: it is definitely slightly more powerful than the erstwhile SD 845, but slots in below the Kirin 980 and the SD 855 for sure. For everyday usage and casual gaming, you don't realistically need an 8xx series chipset, and even the 7xx series chipsets are all good for gaming: I played Call of Duty Mobile on an SD 765G device (the Vivo X50 Pro for your reference), and it runs almost, if not as comparable, to an 8xx series chipset. Also, the 765G is 5G-ready, so that may matter to you depending on where you live. In the end, if you're looking to just upgrade, rest assured the 765G is definitely an upgrade over the 835. (I've also used a OnePlus 5 which had the SD 835, so yeah, have had experiences with both the chipsets and found the 765G better, not to mention newer)

After selling lackluster flagship at high prices, they had to try selling a mid-ranger at maximum possible price...
Thank God there is so much sense in the Pixel 4a at $350. Even the value of the 4a 5G is good at $500.
What made google think that snapping 2GB of ram and a recycled-aluminum body is worth $200 extra? They hsould have sticked to a $600 price...

Anyway, I am glad they have given me every reason to go for the 4a after a little bit of hesitation, and I truly thank whoever there that made the 4a happen at $350! Kudos.

Don't be tricked by companies that want you to buy fragile phones which breaks quick so you have to buy a new one or pay hefty amount for repairs.

For those complaining about the price, calm guys, it's not an iPhone to retain its price for long. Just wait a couple of months and it'll be down a hundred or two. It's refreshing to see aluminium design after long with a 6 inch screen that's at least not as gigantic as other almost 7 inch monstrosities out there so glad to see this but what intrigues me is how did they put a wireless charging in a what looks like a full metal body phone ?

S835 will indeed perform better than 765G, apart from 765g 5G capability and smaller fabrication (hence better power efficiency), sd835 could still perfomr better. Regarding google presentation, I also agree. Even the googl nest presentation was quite disappointing since the presenters didn't seem to be that excited. I honestly watch the lainch just to confirm about pixel 5's aluminium body
