Google launches the Pixel 5 and 4a 5G with Snapdragon 765G, 5G and ultrawide cameras

That's right, the 8-serires Snapdragon on the premium model. As is the tele camera, replaced by an ultra wide shooter instead.

I am totally curious on how google could make their pixel 5's unibody (recycled) aluminium works with wireless and reverse wireless charging. I watched the launch just to confirm the rumour about the aluminium body.

Anonymous, 30 Sep 2020I doubt the event was as bad as Samsung and Apple events us... moreI have to disagree, Apple´s WWDC presentation was very good, Though Samsung´s Unpacked for the Note 20 was actually pretty bad.

I was interested in the Pixel 5, but ultrawide is all the way trash. I would have probably gone for it if they kept the telephoto and added an ultrawide. Also no glass back makes this an all around no from me. I still love my Pixel 4a though. The 5 price is simply way too high for what this is offering compared to the 4a.

Definitely buying the Pixel 5 !
The size is perfect and I don't need a 8xx chipset since I don't play games on my phone and the software should be well optimized. No need to get a powerful processor for my use. I like having RAM tho.
Nice to see that they switched the telephoto sensor for an ultrawide one.
The only thing I would like to get is a 3.5mm jack. But removing it was necessary to put a bigger battery and finally fix Google phones main problem, battery life. I'd gladly trade audio jack for a bigger battery.

Lmao pixel series this year is going down in drain

Pixel 4a 5G could have been the best choice if it only had the biggest battery among this year's pixels to go with the bigger screen. Also would have loved to see the secondary camera to be a telephoto rather than a ultrawide. I don't know why but I just cannot seem to like the ultrawides as the second cam. If they are present in addition to the main and telephoto then I don't mind.

Anonymous, 30 Sep 2020It just seemed like they couldn't be bothered. The pre... more765 and 765G (yes both exist ) are stronger than 835, but weaker than 845.

So except 5G and battery endurance, it is better to buy 4 XL.

Google is letting people down on the one and only front they tout about their phones (apart from updates for years to come) which is the camera experience. Instead of making it better by adding a ultrawide to the already present main + telephoto cameras, they went ahead and ruined the camera experience by replacing the telephoto with an ultrawide. If pixel 5 hade the perfect trifecta of cameras, it would have been a good seller for google. Disappointed at the fact that they didn't go for a 8 series

This seems like an apple move with the uniform chipset, same cameras, same looks with a few key hardware differences that reflect the $200 difference except this is not a flagship chipset and android has quite a lot of alternatives so users can just snub your release. For a company that gathers a lot of data, why is Google so out of touch with its users?

It just seemed like they couldn't be bothered. The presentation was awful, just no excitement. Reason: because even they are not keen. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 835 Snapdragon in my 2xl still beats the 765g, right? Not bothered about 5g.

Except phone software, night sight, refresh rate and camera software lg velvet is better than pixel 5 for this price. For same price you can buy lg velvet with dual screen, headphone jack, more battery mah, larger rear and front camera sensor, Bluethooth 5.1,sd card slot, fast charging lg 25 vs vs pixel 18, usb power delivery lg 3.0 vs 2.0 pixel.
Both are good phone. If you need good software go for pixel or if you need Good hardware go Lg velvet

Wow now even the Nokia 8.3 5G looks like a great device option as compared to the Pixel 5.

Not interesting at all. The only strong points of these two are the cameras an the fact they get updates first and for several years. For me i would go for Xiaomi Mi 10T, if i wouldn't just got a new phone from Xiaomi.

Reasonabale price and specs for the phone with the best and the longest updates.

630€ for mid-range smartphone lol , google killed this device with that price and it would have been great deal if it was 200€ less
                                        - mid-range chipset
                                        - same main camera sensor
                                        - no telephoto lens
The only thing that i like about this device is design , it looks simple
Good luck google selling this device
