HTC to shut down its office in South Korea

30 July, 2012
The move comes reportedly due to HTC's inability to compete with Samsung on its home turf.

I Love hTc. This is sad news. I hope they make good phones in the future and not overprice them

I have the One X, have gotten 4 software updates already, haven´t had any problems with the phone, no lag, no wifi problem, no nothing. I was planing on bying something else but than I saw the X being anounced at CES(or where ever it was)and thought it was jyst amazing. And my god, it is!
At least they´v got One satisfied customer.

        HTC devices should have

        user-replaceable battery
        sd card slot
        unlock bootloader
        fast updates on their devices
        non-issue on hardware

J2ME user, 30 Jul 2012Well I can think of three or four blunders the HTC manageme... moreSpending RnD on wp 8 coz burning cash on android isn't helping htc.despite android being most popular OS , htc's not benifitting from that like sammy n others so it only makes "sense" to look for another promising platform too.
            On other points, agreed !

Well I can think of three or four blunders the HTC management done in the past two years.
                  1. The One series that omitted the Card slot and removable batteries.
                  2. Spending R&D money on that failed WinPhone and probably still burning money on the WP8 phone development.
                  3. Launching phone with inferior hardware then HTC own predecessor, still marketed as High End phone.
                  4. Lack of Customers support, not supporting models during the phone models full lifetime.

Thats only my own reason, not to keep buying HTCs

htc go to rise there product quality,
that is more accuracy in microchips and maximum output.
their design is good but they have an issue in after release all phone,
                      it's damage their market,..??

otherwise Samsung is Korea manufacturer and Korean are always giving priority of their own product so it is difficult to sustain there by htc when Samsung reached the depth of smartphone market.

Htc need to remember!!!!!! user always want best one,
                      price is nothing matter.

so they say they wanna uniform they phones lineup so they announce the one x series.. these phones get bootlocked n no sd expansion n not much increased battery.. plus the sense UI is still heavy and overloading the cpu.. then they make onexL and onex+... they couldve done like what samsung did with galaxy s3 and call it a day.. they still dont know how to make a proper phone that will attract many customers

maybe the price of an HTC smart phone is a bit higher than a smasung, but the build quality is also higher than a samsung phone

HTC prices are too high, their brand is not quite as established as Samsung and Apple yet their prices are almost the same.

they should expand there offices in Finland since nokia can't even sell phones at home anymore

Their GUI is still probably the best out of custom GUIs (but I rather prefer the clean look of stock ICS) and their design is the best in the industry.

But they seriously need to pay attention to what the Customers want: good battery life, exchangeable battery, SD card slot, good sound quality and better camera performance. If they can improve these things, they may succeed yet. But they really do need to improve the multimedia capabilities/battery/exchangable memory aspects of their phones...

There is a fundamental error in HTC NPD policy. They surely can't do an Apple, so they should concentrate on bottom to up policy which made Nokia, Samsung and now is working well for ZTE.

Samsung is most successful in Korea. Then comes LG, then Pantech, then Apple, then HTC lol

Because they sell super expensive phones, with the same features that can be found on SK local Samsung and LG phones or even better.
