I don't think there is any evidence batteries degrade faster if it gets fast charged. I'd think less time spent on the charger would prolong the life of the battery.

Anonymous, 19 Oct 2020The issues mentioned guy the iOS never Again guy are Real.
... moreI know about that batterygate.
And I'm telling you what my sister is experiencing while using the iphone 8 plus.
Just so you know. Only in US where Apple is fined for $500 million.
Since my sister is using an iphone 8 plus. She isn't affected by the battery gate.
If you think that is malpractice? How about you tell me why samsung didn't mentioned that their Note 7 have exploding batteries? Why an android smartphone TRACKS your location even if you don't wanted to? OR as to why the manufacturer sells an android device with no possibility of UPDATES?

He is not compa... moreThe problem is coverage about the so called charging technologies only describes the charger and says nothing about the battery (case in point, title of this article). There is nothing noteworthy about modulating voltage and current, that's 18th century stuff. People want to know WHY it's safe and not destructive to the battery but instead all you hear is 20V split into two 10V.

It's called Batterygate.
They are paying 500 million dollar fine for this.
Go and collect your 25$ that Apple is distributing for that malpractice.

IMO manufacturers must give the option to the consumer to choose the preferred charging speed in their device, so those concerned about the battery health, or planning to keep their phones for a few extra years may cap it at 30W, those charging overnight can set it at like 15W and the adventurous can go full 120W speed, those who change phones every year or within months. It can be done with just using a slow charger but it'd be convenient to have it in the phone settings

Unless this is being shoved into someone's mouth, I don't see any problem with this type of charging. It's always better to have options than having none at all and that for me is the best "option".

The "guy" basically giving people general knowledge without actual details regarding specific types of charging technology and the type of batteries being used. In this case, the video is actually outdated as reference since general knowledge does not apply when technology advances, but it does give a very conservative safety precaution for the uninformed people.

Fun fact:in China, replace battary is easy and cheap.
Replace the battary in mi10 only cost 129 CNY(including tax and labour cost) =19.2usd or=16.4 euros
And Xiaomi have half price discount frequently(Xiaomi service month/service weekend/mi fan festival at April and etc),only need 49CNY(=7.3usd) to replace a battary
