God I hate Apple. Never owned one of their crappy phones yet they still mange to negatively influence the rest of the market. They started the ridiculously stupid removal of the headphone jack trend so they could make more money out of their stupid fanboys

Now no doubt in the near future other makers will start to remove their chargers from the retail box 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Don't let Apple hear this! They'll not indclude a phone next time for the "environment". You'll have to buy it seperately after you bought the box (for 1k+).

Not make more sense to sell the device without the charger...
But have a additional one with it , so you at least have the option...
Now a days most people have a USB C charger... and if not it’s a one of cost , not reoccurring unless you break it.
I agree apple phones should be cheaper without there’s , e.g minus £20 if the price , same should able here , don’t include charger but minus off the price you sell it for.
So if you require it you can buy it if not then don’t buy it..

It makes a good reason to have that kind of long support on a phone that came costly and the owners also keep it for that long so that is good for them, but not really useful for cheap droids, their owners likely don't really care about it anyway and i doubt if they even miss the lack of it

LG Superfan, 20 Oct 2020Pressure sensitive frame? That's possible but not really practical, makes the phone expensive so budget phones can't have that feature, (although mass manufacturing will eventually bring the price down), and also there are chances of an accidental trigger, durability may be affected as the frame needs to be soft to be pressed, also water resistance will be likely compromised. IMO theyll just find another cheaper way

The box itself is mostly cardboard, so probably the plastic cradle that holds the phone inside the box will be replaced by cardboard, the plastic that keeps the cable rolled will be replaced by a paper.

I think it's good and even better that they keep all accessories intact. Other manufacturers should follow.

Qwerty , 20 Oct 2020READ FIRST before you comment just to be first 🤦‍♂️ Well, I did.
And like I said, it started. Of course, now they are keeping the charger. Maybe 6 months from now they are keeping the charger. And when the time is right that's it, no more chargers. And no more cables too.
They just do not want to make it all at once.
And further down the line no more ports in the smartphone. But I predict this in about 5 years.
Well, the industry needed a change at some point. And of course, changes need to be made gradually, to not confuse or intrigue the customers too much. But, I am sure that behind closed doors, they were discussing this already for 2-3 years.

The best way to do that would be to make the phones human sized again. Then you can shrink the box quite a bit.

What other brand offers 5 years of guaranteed software support (that's 5 major OS updates!). If that's what you care about (and you often do when using device for that long), it's all of a sudden not that expensive. Or being forced to buy new phone just to get latest Android features. For me that was a huge deciding factor. And now that I'm on this train of on time long term software support, any Android phone that I like is a turn off when I think of that software side of it, knowing they all kick you off after 2 years or do stuff like Xiaomi where they update frontend (MIUI in their case) to the latest version, but Android underneath is still the old one. And that's super annoying.
