Been looking at this some more and Samsung beat Apple to the punch. The F700 was first however it had gone under a different name at the time. The SGH-Z610 was FFC approved 6 months before apple even showcased their prototype iPhone in Jan 2007. Not only was it almost 6 months before the iphone show case but it also had touch screen gesters, which Apple say is their "invention" After digging through history apple have pretty much invented nothing, they "innovated" yes, other peoples ideas and designs but did not invent anything. As such all these patents are pretty much VOID

Even the mouse that people think apple invented was Stolen from another company XEROX.
All apple have done is taken someone else's idea and made it better. This should not give them the right to be the inventor.

and to awnser u, its only now because back in 2010 samsung wasnt going to their wallets like they are now and keep going up in sales, popularity etc etc, and IMO the worst is still to come with other players entering the OS war, nokia comming back on track if they get WP right with MS, what i think is that apple dond really have it anymore, if they dont come up with something really good they are done...i mean just realy tink about it, iphone is basiclly the same since the first ver. back in 2007 just some basic upgrades in hardware/software that everyone else also puts in their produts just to keep up with times...

Again!!!! Apple and Samsung....
My opinions and suggestions:
1. For Apple:
Please, learn again about the difference between invention and innovation. All your product basicly was looked alike from others products, so if u called these your invention, OMG , u must see about cars history. Cars history made us learn about the innovation. In modern technologies, innovation will make us have choice to choose which products that fittable and enjoyable to us.
And why u blocked the others competitor to innovate theirs product because looks similiars with u? Please grow up because u are not the inventor but you've been a pioneer of smartphone, so u must have a better SELF CONFIDENCE about these things. U must be proud because these cases showed that Samsung learned about u. So u must create next BETTER PRODUCT if u want to be a pioneer for appealing your customers. Why only Samsung...? Look now, LG it seems looked like yours.
2. For Samsung
Your innovations made your skill increasly for product selling, but remember to respect the others innovations, so please create YOUR ORIGINAL INNOVATIONS, like Apple has done to publish and sell their pioneer product such as iPod or IPhone, so what about yours division R&D? So create the better software and hardware let's see for the nearest event" Samsung Unpacked" let us see your latest product, if u can create more innovating product and can be a pioneer from the others in the same OS, i salute u, but i hope about your own OS, cmon how about bada? So be innovate for this software.
3. For all, please STOP these ridiculous cases. Please be polite and respect to each other and look to the future for create more interested and innovating products for all mankind in this world, not such these things, which 've made us sick for your childist attitude!

Apple? Samsung?
Isn't meego also having icons pretty much similar to everyone else?
Tell me, which TV does not have a rectangular display? An infringement would be a direct replica but an innovation from the original isn't .
And, how can a consumer be confused and mistaken about getting a Tab when the Samsung logo is smeared on the device; and even boots up to one when turned on.
Are trying to suggest that dumb blondes do exist in the real world?

HTC used sense UI(it is really different ... moreCorrection: SGS sold well not because of the UI (which was ugly anyway, desire had much better UI), but because of its hardware(remember Hummingbird chip, which was faster than snapdragon even at the same clocked speed of 1 GHz? 16GB of internal memory along with option to put more space via microsd card if you need more, tell me which other phone had that? The beauty known as super AMOLED?), and because of its multimedia capabilities (the best OOTB video player application till date, etc.). It was a symbol of sheer power as far as capabilities are concerned, and it outclassed every phone in benchmarks, so it sold well.
Coming to the point, I really do not see what is wrong with a damn comparison with the the-then industry best? You want to improve at something, what do you do? You compare yourself with the best in the business, and try to be better. What do the best-in-the-business do? With no one to follow, they constantly do something called self analysis: where I am lacking and what to do to improve there, how I can be even better at my strengths,etc.; they know they have to, or in the course of time, they will be thrown out of competition by someone better.
Samsung has done the same, following the smartphone industry leader to analyze their own minus points, and working on it, and at the same time listening to the customers needs (point in case, keeping sd card slot and removable battery in SGS3, when others(HTC and Sony) blindly decided to remove both features, adding camera flash to SGS2 which was a very major drawback in SGS); see where they stand today, the biggest android handset manufacturer in the world, current Galaxy series of phones being the only ones to challenge iphone in sales and popularity.
Apple, on the other hand, never did self analysis and work on their weaknesses(there were many BTW, and still there are). They turned a blind eye to the ever changing world, too much carried away by their constant success, kind of being sure nothing can dethrone them despite the limitations in their platform.
Eventually, they got hit by competition(Samsung) exactly where it hurts the most, the wallet. And now they are acting like a baby and trying to curb the competition, instead of working on drawbacks and improving their products!!! I mean come on, its been two years SGS was launched, which is kind of two decades(maybe centuries) if we think relative in this fast changing tech world, where have you been all these years, Apple? Why you did not accuse Samsung of copying in 2010 when it launched its SGS? WHY NOW???

I'm really happy.
Finally a giant innovator company like apple is going to teach some lesson to a giant copy cat company like samsung.
It's more than half of century , that companies like samsung, Lg, Dawoo and other korean and chinese company are copying and producing cheap products and getting more and more benefits, but samsung now due to the situation of current global economy and ofcourse success of googl's android , and copying others design (as usual) has becom a successor in selling mobile phones.
Apple now shows the other innovator companies how to give a great lesson to such a copy cats companies.

It is really amusing how companies have this kind of power on people. Why do you care if SAMSUNG copied APPLE? And as far as i can see, SAMSUNG didn't "copy" iOS. They compared their UI with iOS, and improved what they seem it lacked in comparison to them.
Improving the users interaction.I use NOKIA, have my C3 since 2010. Never left me hanging.
So i find this constant bashing, and fanatism of brands stupidly dissapointing.
You should defend your customer's rights, YOUR brand can defend themselves pretty well, but who will defend you?
To me, it seems that APPLE has seen SAMSUNG as a threat so they are taking actions to keep them in the lead. Here in PARAGUAY in my country, you can find a "COPY" or "REPLICA" of IPHONE quite easily.
But you don't seems APPLE taking actions to "prevent the incorrect use of their intellectual property"

When cold hard evidence that Samsung isn't anything but HUGE COPYCATS leaks UNINTENTIONALLY, They still try to defend it and use damage control.
Just give it up, SAMSUNG has been outed. Everybody knows they are copycats now lol

I dont know how this can be produced as a piece of evidence. I am pretty sure as everyone is that anyone who tries to compete in a market will do its best to compare tech and innovate based on that. Also pretty sure that Apple is not the only company compared to. Samsung might have hundreds of reports like this comparing every single phone to a competition. It is highly annoying to see Apple fans suddenly blast off in this article cuz they think this Article clearly justifies how great their product is. Yes, Apple fans, your product is one of the best. Note "one of the best." And its good to stay one of the best and not the Best. When Samsung first released the Galaxy S and other products, none of this was important but suddenly when Samsung becomes a threat to Apple, all these petty documents become relevant? Apple is a dominant player in the market and if I am to launch a mobile company, I will look at the competition, try to see what features tick and what dont, and innovate based on that. THIS IS CALLED R&D. Apple did it too. Only that you dont see all their reports now do you. It is a damn given fact that Samsung innovated on Apple's design and looks. But then why did Samsung suddenly become a threat if everyone thinks they copied. Because they were able to innovate and market their product well. That is all. Use of the word COPY is so so misused.
