theRajeshV, 02 Dec 2020Holy **** people! How is this about privacy? If you want... moreForget about privacy and security. Just use any phone you want unless you are a secret agent. And remember that every phone or social media will spy on you. Calm down and enjoy.

Holy **** people! How is this about privacy?

If you want privacy, get a phone with a kill switch for the cameras like PinePhone or Librem. Or just use a closed case or add a shutter. >.>

This is so dumb in so many ways.

                  1) Obviously these phones are not intended for people who work in areas that don't allow cameras, as the article mentions at the beginning. Those people would not buy $5000 gold phones and a company marketing to such a business crowd would not limit production to 99 phones.

                  2) If you are worried about the privacy violation that's possible with the cameras on your phone, just cover them up when you're not using them, like people do on computers. This could be accomplished with a case on the back that covers the back cameras and a sticker over the selfie camera, again which can be purchased already for computers.

                  3) People who can afford $5000 luxury phones probably aren't so worried about privacy in this way and are not targets. Why would they want a phone that is hobbled and unable to do the basic things people do with phones these days, i.e. take and share pictures, make video calls?

                  4) If you are really worried about this kind of privacy intrustion, you are probably much more vulnerable to eavesdropping through the devices mic. Are they going to disable that too so you can't make calls?

                  5) The obvious solution to both of these issues is to do what is alread done on privacy designed laptops: install physical switches that physically disable the cameras and mic when you are not using them. Then you have a phone which can be in a "stealth" mode when you need that, but which is also not a $5000 useless piece of bling for spoiled people who should be spending their money to help out people who are starving, not on consumer crap.

                  6) Um, Blackphone, anyone heard of it?

                  7) Seriously, rich people must just be really stupid. It makes me sad that this is where most of the money and world's resources go.

people who came to read comments, don't...

good device for those who have money and are afraid of cameras.

For the rest, I already explained to you MULTIPLE TIMES now, that it isn't about high ranked individual but that lack of privacy can and have been on many occasion, dangerous to totally ordinary peoples, but that by itself it is a huge risk for liberty in general and security.
                                I won't insist on that.

sq2013, 02 Dec 2020Who on earth do you think you are calling dense? Also, cool... moreWell you just got so much denser that your protons and electrons are about to fuse into neutrons at this point.
You know absolutely nothing about me, if I really wanted to sound smart, you would probably not even understand what I say, I voluntarily dumb down my language for the the simple fact most peoples aren't familiar with what we might consider standard etiquette way to talk and using beautiful fancy words only to not be understood make no senses.

"I don't believe in the illuminati".
Guess what, outside the "conspiracy theory" part, the Illuminaty was a real group of peoples who did existed, there isn't "believe in" or not, it is an accurate and well documented historical fact.
                                  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illuminati#Origins

"I don't believe in conspiracy theories"
Good, because conspiracy isn't a theory, conspiracy is a thing that have happened many times in history and that is well known and part of general culture.
Any 10 seconds Google search would inform you on the matter :
                                  https://www.readersdigest.com.au/true-stories-lifestyle/12-crazy-conspiracy-theories-actually-turned-out-be-true
Those are thing you are totally free to look yourself up to literally looking at original files if you want to, that you believe or not in them, those are still true.

Funny part is that the term "Conspiracy theory" may actually be a conspiracy, which work so well that you consider that things who really existed, that have every evidences needed for anyone to agree it existed, with government confirming its existence, are just as crazy as reptilian level of thing for you.

So now, tell me, when a company literally went to court over something that I simply tell you is a thing and you keep considering as a total crazy thing, which one is actually closer to the reality ?
Overly skeptical peoples think they are so close to the reality when in fact refusing anything that don't seem right to you while totally ignoring evidences actually make you further to reality that "conspiracy theorists" who believe stupidities like "the earth is flat" or "reptilians", as even those can, when presented with facts, change their mind.

I spent you two links and gave you 3 exemples of things all giving exemples about how it doesn't matter who you are, and while you are more likely to be targeted while being a high profile individual, everyone is already under surveillance, and it is already a problem.
Yet here you are saying you are a normal person.

I didn't assume anything, I just made an observation, someone being totally refractory to something despite proofs and explanations IS someone dense, I called and still call you dense because you act as such.

Good, I have made theory about how gravity actually work, what is dark matter, what is dark energy, how reality is conceptualized from string theory, how the universe may have started, I made theories about technology such as faster than light communications and travels, communication to parallels universe in regard with the many world interpretation of particles wave function collapsing, I invented many techs, I am working on my own language, I conceptualized my own civilisation model from the laws, the government structure, the value system that is an alternative to money and down to quite a few architectural style, norms and base for some alternative technologies, and this include plans to make all that.
I've learned Assembly as my first programming language if you left HTML, CSS and just few things in PHP aside, I then proceeded to learn how computer work down to the transistors and gates, pipeline, ALU, cache and cache prediction and all that, I experimented with circuits simulators and invented my own adder that doesn't have carry delay, I've made softwares that were way above what I did learn when following the online courses I was following, including, barely after learning how to make windows in VB.NET, being one of the person who found the solution of the University of Nottingham video about iterative vs recursive programs where it was said that some programs could only work in recursive way despite some of us who did found how to do it iterative way.
The first time I watched a video in English without subtitles was a course from the MIT about the Lord Kelvin Electrostatic Generator.
At around 10, I already understood the difference between parallel reality and parallel universes, and at the same age I find two "perpetual motion" devices.
At 14 I did replace the drummer that was late during a small concert in a bar, it was the first time I ever did touched a drum and I played it well.
I can go for a while at it, but I think this "I have the biggest" contest might start to really sound like I am showing off if I don't stop here.
Maybe I should add I won a couple of fishing context...Just in case !
But I don't think I am more important than anyone else despite my list of things I can be proud about, which is far bigger than what I wrote here as some might make peoples cringe, I want to try with the "perpetual motion" to see if some just can't stand without reacting aggressively to this, as it is interesting to observing such comportment, but really I saved the things that would make skeptical peoples hairs goes straight up.

But all that aside, when someone is dense, I call such person dense.
Shall I also remind you, you were the one who started getting personal and disrespectful, I only play along, funnily it often end like that, as if peoples weren't able to see they are disrespectful and are angry when they got served the same dish...
But most importantly, when someone tell you privacy is a serious thing, just because you don't believe it doesn't mean you have the right act in such way that keep endangering it.
What if someone did smoke next to someone of your entourage that is pregnant, sick, old or very young, and simply tell you that he doesn't believe in passive smoking ?
Mainly when I actually did post links from experts in the matter explaining it.

Also, cool... moreI assume English is not your first language as your punctuation and general usage of the language is not great. I do know plenty about the subject. I never asserted my opinions as facts. I expressed an opinion. You talk about Julian Assange. This is at the very pinnacle of society. Political espionage has always occurred. This is not what I am referring to. The concept of data mining by companies to be able to target specific demographics and profile consumers is not an issue, IN MY EXPERIENCE. I'm not saying that as a fact. I'm saying literally a terabyte or more personal data from me has passed through various companies in my lifetime. I think that it's is overblown paranoia. The subject is constantly mediatized and made appear to be an issue. I don't think that it's an issue. That's not my assertion as a fact. That's an opinion. I'm sure if you regurgitate your dictionary, you'll be quite capable of looking up the definition of a fact and that of an opinion. Then you will realize that I never stated ANYTHING as fact. I expressed an opinion, something to which I believe I am entitled, regardless of what you think of it. Just as my opinion conflicts with yours. I don't really think a lot of your opinion. I'm not conceited enough to label you as "dense" though, however misguided I believe you to be.

Also, cool it with the essay. It doesn't make you look scholarly or clever. It makes you look aloof and boring. I seriously zoned out halfway through. Unlike you, I don't believe in the illuminati. I don't believe in conspiracy theories. Guess what dude? Nobody really cares. You don't seem to get it. I have used idrive, icloud, google drive, onedrive, google photos, photostream, skydive, amazon cloud storage. I have voluntarily given these companies access to my data for well over ten years. No harm has come from it. I have an Amazon echo. It's right beside my bed. I don't close the camera shutter. It's virtually always on. As is my laptop and the camera on that is not obscured. I haven't reformatted it and removed the camera or disabled it. I don't care because nothing is going on. There may be something in the higher echelons of society. People with serious money and profile. I am a common man. I don't have a lot of money. Who on earth would be interested in me or most people for that matter? Also, just because you are autistic, it doesn't make you a modern day Raymond Babbitt. Have a bit of decorum and don't assume you know me. I'm fluent in four languages. I have an honours degree and I am highly IT certified. I haven't done anything with those qualifications but I'm not dense so don't address people as such and have some manners.
