Weekly poll results: makers need to drop the 2MP cameras and keep chargers in retail packages

    And considering that 12Mp sensors aren't expensive at all, it is a shame to only have 2Mp.

    Then there are people who don't understand all this and think the Macro type is to blame for that, in fact many use the macro for taking regular close-ups and never close enough for real Macro.

    The depth could be the most useful sensor of the phone despite not being directly usable, depth data are much more potent than only Brokeh for Portraits.
    But it requires real depth sensing like Flash LiDAR ToF with a high resolution and a good AI Software.

      Until bad trendsetters are boycotted, the others will follow.

      Samsung used to be very generous and pack AKG headphones, expandable storage, charger, some schemes with wireless charging pads etc in the box. Now its seem that Apple and others can get away with mediocre headsets or none at all, no charger etc, so it's like 'Why Should we Not increase our profits too?'.

      All this could be forgivable, IF all smartphone makers started Pricing More Reasonably for Flagships. Apple has been responsible for mediocre storage (for the longest), no SD card slow, single SIM for the longest, one of the last to get multiple cameras, the first to remove the headphone jack, the first to not give the charger in the box etc. All bad trends of draining the customer's income, have been started by Apple.

      While the Smartphone market needed to get enough profits for Smartphone makers too, to prevent more from going down, it shohldn have been reason to start giving less and less for the $1, almost each year.

      All 2MP modules are a joke. New phones in 2022 (next year) should have a minimum of 8MP. I don't care about glass backs, especially after having dropped one with a military grade casing (which still cracked). But the quality of plastic also needs to improve. Or have some great casing for them, if they are easily scratchable.

I can already use the same charger for my laptop, my Nintendo Switch and my cameras. If I want more chargers, I can buy them. No need to accumulate one more for each device.

          All brought to you by Apple, people laugh at Apple being the first to do it, but every makers follow thru. Stop making fun of Apple, else they will bring more disaster to you.

          Note changes for 2021 for you guys not to laugh at.

          1. No more SIM card iPhone. (all ESIM)

            This quad camera nonesense must stop. If the manufacturers want to cheap out let them use a single quality camera. That large camera bump is also an irritation to the eye. Just because apple does something doesnt mean every android manufacturer must follow. They should also have 2 phone packages: a smaller one without accesories retailing at a lower price and a larger one with accesories retailing at MSRP so that we get to choose what fits us.

              Bring back compact flagship phone!

                Being happy about the voting poll results when in reality it wouldn't even affect most smartphone makers' decision lol. Sadly macro cams will probably continue but hopefully not all will exclude chargers.

                  Companies need to focus on the basics first before claiming prolific features that doesn’t add any or significant value for the users.
                  1) Chargers of 25W or so is sufficient to charge the battery in about an hour. So why go for 100W or beyond? Also, it has been proven that charging your battery at faster speeds degrades their health quickly. Customers should think about this before opting a phone which offers super fast charging as their main features.
                  2) Adding Depth sensor or Macro sensor of 2MP is not going to provide any meaningful significance to the user. So, companies should focus on improving the night image quality of their main cams instead of wasting resources on these useless sensors.

                    This is one of the reasons why larger batteries are better: they can withstand faster charging in absolute terms.

                        I recalled the old phones were included the macro photography function in the single lens

                          In any phone review when I see depth and macro, I stop reading, but when I see telephoto I continue reading.

                            Much better macro results are achieved by having AutoFocus on the UltraWide cam.

                              things makers got wrong: We need fast chargers, we don't slow ones. We don't need cables, we need an option worthy enough to not include them though(cheaper price). We dont need also 5mp and 8mp sensors - at least not with that kind of poor processing where it looks like 2mp shot.

                                  If we want companies to stop treating us like idiots then we need to stop buying their crap. If everyone refused to buy a phone that didn't have a charger included, the chargers would make an immediate return.
                                  We control the market, not them. They need us, we don't need them

                                    I really dont understand why this 2mp macro camera is so hated. The depth is useless, yeah, but the macro can be very ok! It doesnt cost more than a few pennies, and they wouldn't upgrade the main camera for those pennies either, as they have to keep a difference in performance between 2 diff prices
